In short: A nice friendly race with bags of atmosphere. In full: One I would definately do again, the only criticism I would have is the contraflow through Appleton Thorn, totally demoralising seeing runners with a good half hour on you, also it created a bottle neck in which you became trapped behind slower runners; would be great if they could change this for next year. In short: Challenging hills, but at least they were in the first half! In full: Nice route, good to run on closed roads. Enjoyed having the hills in the first half when I was energetic enough to deal with them! Great goody bag as well. Date of review: October 7, 2009

In full: my first half marathon- last climb at cantilver killed me but still managed 1.56 -loved the community feel- a big difference after several manchester 10k- great day & will complete again Date of review: October 6, 2009
In short: Very nice route, excellent local support, and a good bunch of fellow runners! In full: A really good event, with very enthusiastic and vocal support, even the marshalls clapping and cheering runners on. Not sure why Runners World rated this as flat - there were a few cheeky climbs in there I'm sure! The positioning of the Lucozade Sport station at 12 miles was a waste - way too close to the finish for this to be of significant benefit. But good overall, and would certainly do it again! In short: Has the potential to be a great race In full: Could be slightly better organised in terms of parking and spectator facilities. Expensive for a half but nice medal and technical t-shirt. Date of review: October 5, 2009
In short: A very enjoyable and extremely well organized event. Glad to have been there for the inaugural English Half Marathon In full: The facilities were extremely good, plenty of toilets, tents, food stands etc and a big New Balance tent. Parking was easy 5-10mins walk to the start. A lot of thought has gone into the set up, making every thing at the beginning of the race very stress free. There were plenty of water stations and Lucozade on the way round, 5 stations in total, each with toilets. The route was very scenic, with a great support turning out considering this was the first race. There have been a few comments about the price, well… “you get what you pay for!”, it was obvious that a lot of money had been spent on the event, the goody bag and medal were extremely good quality too. I have no doubt this will become a very BIG race in future years. Any improvements possible? No!! This is a must for next year. Thanks to all involved.
In short: Good first time HM for Warrington In full: A good race that will get better with time. The start was very congested (isn't it always) but other than that the course was quick with no major hills. The final lap of the track was brilliant, and the crowd helped lift my weary legs. A bit expensive, but the medal and the goody bag helped ease the pain of the price (just about!). Definitely one to do again and it was a good first running of the event.
