In short: All went like clockwork for me In full: Apart from the cost which would put me off entering again the event went like clockwork for me. Found the car park easy enough, (and I don't live in the area) was directed in and the bus arrived within 5 mins of me joining the Q at 7.30am.
Bit basic at the start but all very clear where to go and enough people to ask if you couldn't work out that your number colour related to the pen colour code!
There are never enough loos at a start but there were plenty round the course at every water station.
Cheery marshalls, plenty of well manned water stations with small bottles of water and cups of energy drink. Very clear KM markers and good finish area. Date of review: March 22, 2011

In short: Badly organised and expensive In full: As most of the reviews have said, this was a blooming expensive race and a lot poorer than last year. The start was really badly organised, with the buses very late and no signs to car parking, nor anyone directing to spaces. Once at the start there weren't enough toilets and nothing to tell us (or nobody to show us) to the pens.
Brilliant marshalls on the course- which was very lonely at times on those country lanes. With reduced numbers on last year (I think down to 25%) we spread out a lot and it was a lonely time!
Great finish and commentator calling your number in. I do know someone that did the half kilomathon that had to walk from the drop-off point (back where the buses picked us up) to the stadium for a final lap- WHY? That was a terrible finish to the half. Date of review: March 22, 2011

In short: Great challenge for those who don't want to do full marathon! In full: Loved the race itself, great challenge for those of us who have no desire to do a full marathon. Went out of town in pretty lanes and villages, though Derby itself not exactly scenic! However, the car parking and bus transfer were disastrous - standing freezing for 45 minutes waiting for busses. No signs to parking. I understand it was better last year so maybe just a one off. Date of review: March 22, 2011

In short: Course was tougher than last years but the stadium finish was better. In full: Expensive race for what it is, the t-shirt was very disappointing as for that price you would expect something better than a cotton t-shirt. Marshalls were brilliant and so where the spectators round the course. The start was dull with not enough toilets and I did prefer last years course not just because it was flatter but I'm sure the scenery was better. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Scenic course with good support from locals and marshalls but lacked atmosphere In full: A race with a lot of potential but lacked atmosphere, particularly at the start. Disappointingly low turnout. Buses to the start were late which made things rushed and some toilets in the car park would have taken the strain off the start area. On the whole well organised and marshalled and a good distance for the marathon trainer. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Expensive, lacked atmosphere as low turnout - runners & spectators! In full: This was an OK race but had a lack of competitors (less than 1000 finishers when I think 5000 places were advertised)
The 'energy drink' was a joke, a drinks machine cupful - of which most when over your face or down your arm, was pointless
The finish was the best bit as it was round the athletics track and the spectators could support the runners...
Overall I wouldn't recommend or do again as too expensive and not much more fun than a normal training run ! Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Fanatastic marshalls, lacked atmosphere at start & finish, over priced In full: I really enjoyed the route. The marshalls were brilliant, organisation pre race was good. The start & finish lacked atmosphere. The start was in the middle of a road, no music, no refreshments availble. The end also was lacking anything. My poor family had to wait aged as we have to be there for 7.30 for the bus (the race started at 9am) & there was nothing for them to do. With a bit of tweaking & lowering the price this could be a really good run. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: nice run In full: This was my third Kilomathon and this was the smallest amount of runners so far. There were a few problems at the start i.e not enough and delayed buses. The signage to the parking could also have been better. The start area also had way to few toilets. The race was described as flat, which it was not,in particular the first few miles. However,it was a good run and the finish on the athletics track was good. The marshals and on course organisation make it a standout run. I like the Kilomathon format, but I worry that due to the very high price it will fail to survive Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Enjoyable In full: This is the longest distance I have run so far, and apart from the last couple of KMs when my knees felt very sore it was good. The price was steep and I doubt I'd run it again especially as I had the additional travel and hotel costs! Overall though, I'm pleased I ran this race! Date of review: March 20, 2011
