In short: Great race to finish the year off.
In full: Weather was kind for a great value event. should have worn trail shoes rather than road shoes. Unexpected but very much appreciated spectator support. only downside and not the organiser‘s fault was the cost of the parking. Shame on you Southsea Council!

In full: My second year at this event and I just love it. Last minute entry due to change in other running plans. This is one of my fav halfs now and can't say enough good about it. Loved the Buff stylie scarf. Nice one oh and I saw the helicopter as well. Nice touch..

In short: Great organisation, great course and, this year, great weather
In full: This is a great low-key coastal half well worth the trip. Starts by the Pyramid Centre on Southsea waterfront, takes you along the seafront prom, through a Marina, across a shingle/mud beach, on a footpath by a harbour and then through some parkland, across football fields and back to the seafront, via the harbour beach again, for a run to amusement park and then back to the finish along the seawall. Multi-terrain but nothing tough and pretty firm under foot (except for the beach). The course is completely flat and is definite PB material (even with the beach). Superb running weather and beat the atrocious rain and wind at last year’s event.

Marshalling was excellent and the event seemed to run like clockwork. Race HQ was indoors and warm but not really sure why they posted the numbers and not the chips – seems a bit pointless if you have to queue up anyway.

Plenty of parking along the front and toilets. Some places to get hot food afterwards. Excellent event and good value.

In short: Weather was great, the organization very good - good array of freebies too which is always welcome!!That beach section is either getting longer each year or my mind is playing tricks on me!! Would definitely recommend it.
In full: And unlike the Brighton half this year, was the correct distance for a half marathon which is always a bonus!!

In short: Well organised friendly race
In full: Well organised, friendly, good value (chip timing, soup at the finish, plentiful water stations with jelly beans, nice goody bag with medal and snood thing). Course is scenic but could be a nightmare on a worse weather day. I found the beach/shingle section tough and passing the start/finish but still having another 5k to do a bit demoralising but that's my own fault because I hadn't trained properly for the distance! Overall a good race, even for tortoises like me.

In short: A truly wonderful race and weren't we lucky with the weather!!
In full: This is the 3rd time I have done this race and it will certainly not be the last. After the wind and rain last year and the threat of snow and sub-zero temperatures this year the organisers got the weather absolutely spot on.
Everything went like clockwork from the picking up of the chips at the start to the soup at the finish. I see some runners are complaining about the lack of encouragement from the Marshalls which I must disagree with. All the marshalls had a cheery wave and words of encouragement apart from a couple who were concentrating on doing their job by making sure nobody got knocked over at a number of road junctions. Even then a quick word of thanks on the way past raised a smile on their (cold) faces. How anybody could get lost is beyond me as even I would struggle to lose the best part of 1000 people dressed in day-glow on a clear Sunday morning.
So to finish off, a fantastic race where any profits go to the RNLI.
I am surprised nobody has mentioned the fly-by by the RNLI Sea King helicopter or was that just my imagination. See you next year.

In short: well organised, flat course, some slightly challenging terrain
In full: Course is flat, mostly on roads and pavement with a short section on the beach. Beach section wasn't too bad so don't let that put you off.

Race was well organised and good value for a chip-timed half marathon. Will probably be back next year.
