In short: First half marathon, and i picked the right one to start with! In full: This was my first half marathon and so i was there bright and early with my better half at just past 8am! so had a bit of a wait for the start, but better than being late, as i was stood there nervous as hell, the organizer rob came over and said hello and we had a quick chat which was great as it calmed my nerves and i apreciate it as he was very busy! the people on the run were friendly, and there was no chance of getting lost with all the marshalers, who did a great job and were very cheerful, (plus they had sweets! always a bonus) the route was good with some mud near the end making it more interesting. I dont have any other races of any distance to compair this to, but as far as i can see it was great. Thanks to eveyone involved in planning and running it! Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: Great run, my first 13 miler, really enjoyed, thanks Rob In full: Interesting to mix road work with running along the beach, lots of rain made for challenging run over miles 11-12 so relief to get back on tarmac for final mile. lots of stewards offering sweets, drinks and encouragement, you did a great job guys well done Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: A nice flat course, well organised, friendly atmosphere In full: My 1st half of the year, pleasantly surprised, well worth the hour & a bit drive to get there. Glad I wore road shoes as only the last bits were a tad muddy - I've run in worse mud at crocc country races so this was not too bad. Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: Excellent first running - will do it again - thanks for organising In full: Really enjoyable, but very muddy in parts - added to the fun but not to the chance of a good time - I think, if it's dry, this could be a fast race. Friendly marshalls, nice route, definite one to do again. Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: First 8 miles a joy - then the mud kicked in but still a great race although appeared a bit short In full: Plus points - First 8 miles fantastic, even with a bit of head wind and rain. Loved the jelly beans/baby's on route at various points. Very friendly atmosphere.
Minus points - Distance appeared to be approx 0.2 miles short. Route map showed a slightly different route on the way back at Southsea Castle, (approx mile 5) looked like we cut the corner off. From then on the mile markers were out of sync. This took the edge off an otherwise great day (unless it was my Garmin that threw a wobbly for the very first time?) I ran past the finish line to make up the shortfall and still got a PB so VERY happy. Will be back next year. Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: fast, flat course with some tricky boggy/ wet sections! In full: This was a nice run and organisation was good. Friendly marshals and a good supportive crowd. Could have done with the first drink station being a little later or having an extra one in the middle as there was quite a gap between them. A few more toilets would have been nice but i have seen longer queues in other races! Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: muddy, but fun In full: I really enjoyed this run, wish i had worn trial shoes though!! even the rain held off for most of it. Great goody bag and this is the friendliest race that i have done. A plus for me was the toilets, as i need to go when i run!Marshalling was spot on, in fact it is difficult to find fault with any of it!!! well done to all, organizers, helpers and runners.
