In short: A welcome addition to the usual marathon warm-up races In full: A nice mixture of airfield and country lanes to look at. Flat on the airfield and (very) undulating on the lanes. A very enjoyable race with no problems (plenty of marshalls and water stations) Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: Great inaugural event. In full: First class event & well organised....with all that tarmac in an ideal world it would have been nice to have either the car parking closer to the start & finish or vice versa. Weather conditions were excellent but if it had rained......... This is just an observation & not a complaint. Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: Good for a first time event In full: Though this was good, except for the delayed start. Plenty of water and food, cheery marshalls, nice medal and a couple of useful items in the goodie bag. agree that the last 2 miles were a bit tough. maybe do it in the opposite way next time, so the "dull, oh my god have i still got that far to run" airfield isn't at the end, and there is a decent distance of wide airfield for the field to spread out at the start, before they hit the roads. In short: Fantastic, and friendly, very well organised. In full: Very enjoyable race. Brilliantly organised, and fantastic vocal, marshalls. They spurred me on at the end. Highly recommend to everyone. Great goody bag and medal. BIG THANK YOU to you all. Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: A good warm up race for a marathon In full: Parking was a doddle but as mentioned by everyone the baggage system needs sorting out as the queues were very long. This wouldn't have been such an issue if the start line was nearer the building. The course was not flat and fast as advertised and for a first time 20 miler the 4 or 5 hills were an unwelcome surprise and the wind over the airfield was a final killer. But having said that it makes for a good training run - but don't expect to get a PB. The girls at the drink stops were very encouraging, I'm sure I could hear them screeching from over a mile away! Marshals were also very polite and encouraging (mercifully not as loud as at the drink points!). Date of review: March 15, 2010
In short: My first 20 miler, I loved it! In full: I found the two lap format really good as I knew exactly what to expect and where to expect the little hills on this 'flat' course!
Plenty of water stations although no jelly babies as promised and the enrgy drink was not good. Lack of toilets at the start led to some very grumpy people in the queue.
All in all though, a really good course, lots of good marshalling support, no bottle necks or problems on the quiet country lanes. I'll definatley be back next year but maybe just for the 10 so I can go for the PB! Date of review: March 15, 2010
