In short: top race - well done to the organisers In full: I can't understand some of the negative reviews I just read. Yes it was hot - can't be helped. Yes some cars had to wait to leave - people were still running. As for not being able to find the school - What abut the map that was posted out to everyone? Come on, its not exactly the anyone elses fault that you cant read a map. A great race, which I really enjoyed. The marshalls were helpful and the support was great. I hope to come back next year. In short: Marathon, heatwave. Perfect organisation! In full: Just to say how magnificent the marshalls and organisers were. You guys are stars! I entered this race as a final warm-up (no pun...) before going to Barcelona in 3 weeks, hoping for an English cool October race to push my PB beyond its limits. Suffice to say that temperatures pushing 80 degrees well and truely screwed that. HOWEVER my "slow" time (28 mins off PB, but 10 mins better than VLM '11) would have been measured in days, had it not been for marshalls cycling between runners checking for needs, delivering gels, water, energy drinks, first aid, whatever else was needed (except a lift. Poo!) Support along the rest of the route was exemplary too. Infinitely better than my last visit in 2006, so THANK YOU! Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Fantastically hot, but fantastically well organised - extra water lais on due to heat - very friendl;y, and oodles of marshalls who were very helpful In full: This was my first marathon, and I found it exceptionally well organised and catered with the excessive heat admirably, with loads of extra water stations laid on. Very friendly atmosphere - local community really supportive and helped all along the way - I think most of their hands will drop off tonight from all the applause along route. 200 yards from the beach, so plenty for non running companions to do whilst race proceeded. Extremely flat course, well signed, definite PB potential - two lap course fantastic to enable a beginner such as myself to pace on the second lap. Verdict - excellent day out - well done all those who made it happen. Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Amazing value, good flat track and great organisation. In full: This was a great race with a really nice atmosphere. Had a shocker, but that's because I set off too fast and suffered in the heat. Definite pb course in the right conditions though. Can't understand the negative comment above - hardly their fault it was hot. There was sufficient water and it's been unseasonally warm for a few days, so people shouldn't have been caught out. As for having to wait to let runners past as you were trying to leave, maybe on your next race the runners could stop to let you out. Get a grip. Well done to all concerned. In short: terrible organisation!!! In full: I don't like to slate races but I was pretty appalled with some of the things that happened with this race. Firstly what was the point in sending numbers out in the post when you still had to queue to get a race chip?!(the fact that nobody knew which queue they were supposed to go in). Secondly, there was no directions to the school, so we ended up going round in circles. At the 10.5 mile point, the housing estate that I ran through was extremely hot and I felt really dehydrated to the point of feeling sick, I saw a marshal and asked 'where the water was?' to be told 'it was on the sea front and it wasn't far'(at the time he was also attending another runner that looked to me to be also dehydrated), there was also several people in front of me asking for water as well. Well 'not far' was another mile nearly!!! (thank you to my club mate that saw I was in destress and went and got a bottle of water and dished it out to both myself and the other runners that were behind me,she was a life saver!).On the seafront I voiced my concern to two other marshals, who basically ignored me, if it wasn't for a lives responder listening and taking action(I found out after finishing that water and medical help was sent up to the estate)who knows what would have happened. Final critism, On trying to leave the event, I was told that I had to wait. I explained to the marshal that my husband had to get to Louth for another race, he strugged his shoulders and walked off. I went to the front of the car queue and spoke to a marshal that was more understanding and finally we got away. This problem wouldn't have happened with the cars not getting away from the venue if more care had been taken in the planning of the finish area. Why have runners crossing the only road exit to the school, surely somebody should have highlighted this safety issue right from the start. Race organiser if you think I am being harsh, them I have no problems in coming forward to speak to you about them(please feel free in contacting me through RW. This is an event that was really good but, is now frault with some very serious safety issues. Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Excellent well organised race In full: Been coming to Mablethorpe on family holidays for years so I thought I'd enter the half. Absolutely brilliant day - superb organisation, friendly encouraging marshalls, bottled water at drinks stations, tech t-shirt at finish. Loads of people out supporting runners all round the course but especially on last mile on seafront. Loved it - definately back next year (maybe for the full). If you're looking for your first half or full marathon, I would recommend this. Date of review: October 2, 2011
