In short: An excellant course makes the race
In full: I personally really enjoyed this race having set a new PB on what is a super fast and pretty course through the parks; a long stretch of downhill from miles 7 - 10 and unlike some i found the final 3 miles down the promenade a great flat finish....you cannot blame the course for struggling at the end! Felt the atmosphere was decent, and the post race massage and medal are definately positives.

Like others my only real criticism relates to the organisation at the start, it will definately be a good idea to move it as planned next year - and incorporate different pens, it seems abit ridiculous that faster runners have to fight their way through the crowd to the start - i certainly didnt blame the guys i saw jumping the barriers to avoid doing so.

Having finished before the crowds came in, i didnt have a problem at the finish although i could see how once it got busier they'd struggle to deal with everyone efficiently. I dont expect much from the inappropriately named "goody" bags at races, but beef jerky and toilet paper did seem like an exercise in irony! I liked the t-shirt design but for £30 you expect a technical t-shirt.

Overall a great event, and with an improved start next year i'd definately expect to see it go from strength to strength.

In short: Scenic City Half Marathon
In full: For a city half marathon, the course route was inspired. I really enjoyed running through the three parks, less so the promenade as it really felt like a long drag, particularly during the long straight stretch between 10 and 11 miles. However even that was preferable to the usual urban city half marathons. Apparently there were 7500 runners and it was a bit cramped in places as a result. Due to roadworks on the approach to the city, and an appalling parking decision on my part, I was disappointed to miss the start and missed the opportunity to run with the pacers which put paid to a potential PB after having to sprint for a mile just to get to the race start!
The finish area was packed and will need some adjustments next year if they maintain that number of entrants. Goody bag and t shirt were ok but for £29, a technical t shirt isn't a big ask instead of a cheap cotton one. Good support from the locals. All in all, a really good race.

In short: Not the best - sort out the toilets!
In full: Despite turning up in pleanty of time, I didn't want to risk missing the start so didn't wait in massive toilet que and ended up needing the loo before I even set off. Ended up starting so late that I could've well gone and was fuming!

Decided I'd have to wait until the half way toilets but didn't see any - did anyone else? Had to come off the route and queue for toilets in the Sefton Park cafe with loads of others but after 4 minutes with no one moving, I had to set off again. Ended up having to pee in the bushes in Otterspool park - something I never thought I'd have to do but needs must!

All the messing about left me really demoralised and even though I still managed a new PB, I know I could've done much better so ended up disappointed.

Having done a few other half marathons and loads of other races, I felt this one was a bit disorganised. Had to scramble over chains and fences and under guy ropes and all kinds to get there. No one knew where they were going - everyone was just milling round aimlessly. I know the routine with loo's and queing and faffing but this one was just too much.

And the end? Twenty minute wait to get large t-shirt (all that was left) and a "goody bag" containing a single loo roll - which - after the experience I'd had was a bit of an insult.

Not the greatest.

Lovely route though and definately a potential for a very fast run.

In short: another boss run liverpool event!
In full: great race! Well done and thank you to Alan, the run liverpool team and all your fab volunteers!

Thanks you to the Jurys Inn hotel for letting us and a few hundred other runners use your toilets!

only thing that would improve it for me would be a couple of marshelled start pens, "no race number no entry"! I saw spectators trying to get out of the start area at 9.30am, whats that about?!

Cant wait for the marathon in October!!!!

In short: Great Atmosphere
In full: This was my first ever HM in fact this is longest distance I have ever run, managed a 1.56. which I was very pleased with. The crowds were very supportive. A bit brassed off with people junping over the barriers at the start. All in all a very enjoyable race. See you next year.

In short: The usual RunLiverpool race
In full: As ever well organised, maybe a little over-run with entrants, but nothing too bad. Good fast course, didn't miss running up the steps out of the Aigburth Road underpass this year.

In short: Great PB potential on a lovely course
In full: There are a lot of harsh criticisms on the reviews here, only some are justified, it is a really narrow start and there weren't as many loos there should be, however this is a great race. The absolute mass of people that turned up less than ten minutes before the start time was the major issue! Put simply if you want a bit of space and to get near the front, get there a bit earlier!
All in all this is a good race on a flat course with excellent PB potential. It would benefit from start pens though.
Huge thanks to runners world pace runner who helped get me in under 1.30 for the first time.

In short: Excellent Event
In full: This is the third year in a row I have took part in this race and every year has been excellent. I really enjoy it and it is one that I always look forward to. I improved my PB by nearly 15 minutes this year, the course is quite flat and seems to go very quickly.
