In short: Brilliant but brutal In full: I loved this race. But be warned - it's not for the feint hearted. No need to bang on about the mud - you can read that in all the other reviews. What I will bang on about, though, is the absolutely top level organisation; this is how to put on an event; anyone thinking of organising something like this should speak to Sharon - she is the business! The Marshalls (with a capital M!)deserve all the above credit, and more; not at all sure I could do it with such good humour. Well done to everyone involved. Everyone. You know who you are. In short: Enjoyable and friendly but hard trail race - very hilly In full: Seemed longer than 20.3 miles. Fairly dry for the first half but mostly covered in thick chalky mud in the last few miles. Some of the hills had both contouring and mud which was awkward. A lot of hopping from side to side to find some grass to run on. Many puddles! Date of review: February 28, 2011

In short: Very very tough, but a lesson in how to organise a race In full: That was really, really hard! Hills, rain, mud and a lingering cold all combined to make this one of the most challenging races I have done.
A massive thank you to all at PJC - a huge amount of thought clearly goes into organising what must be a really tough race to run. Superb refreshments during and after, incredibly supportive marshalls and local perople and great value.
I'll be back again, but will definitely treat it with a bit more respect next time! Date of review: February 28, 2011

In short: 7 times now, says it all. I love this race In full: First half this year was very pleasent, running in the sun. Before the finish though the MVP that i love returned. Wind, rain, mud, slippery mud. Last year i said "why can i only do this one once a year". I stand by that. PJC show us all how to organise a race. They are generous in their support, medal and towel, tea, cakes and everything you can think of. I love this event and i will be back again next year. It takes a lot to make my legs ache the day after, they do today. Thank you so much for organising the Meon Valley Plod. Date of review: February 28, 2011

In short: Hills, very sticky mud, and a big smile all the way round. Boy is it tough! In full: I’d just like to give my thanks to PJC and all who gave their time today.
If you've never done this race and are looking through here to decide, then decide no more. Enter now, you will not regret it.
I ran with a smile, I finished with a smile, all thanks to the myriad marshals handing out drinks, jelly beans, fruit pastilles, cake, mars bars, bananas etc without which I’d have never made it round! Along the route not only were the marshals highly encouraging but also the amount of locals who came out to watch and cheer the runners on.
My special thanks go to the Pink Ladies just after the 7m mark who you could hear for a while before, and a while after. Being able to hear them cheering very vocally every runner for the best part of 10% of the race was very lifting.
The camaderie amongst the runners was special, keeping each other going through the tough times
This was my first and it certainly lived up to the toughness I’d been led to expect, and exceeded that.
My heartfelt thanks for putting this race on and to all those people that allow us to run across such beautiful ground.

In short: This was my first MVP - & it lived up to what I had heard - mud, mud, hills & a bit more mud! Hell of a course, brilliant marshals (+ the v loud girls in pink!), awesome atmosphere, scenery & cake. My legs feel like lead, bit I will be back! In full: This was my first time at this race and i just want to say well done PJC! Somebody with a seriously warped sense of humour designed this course - a series of harsh ups & worse downs, mostly ankle deep in mud which managed to suck your trainers off whilst also sending your feet in every direction but the one you wanted! It may have left my legs like lead flavoured jelly, but the scenery was to die for, the course was brilliantly well marked, the marshals friendly and efficient and the food stations well stocked with cake. Add to this the offer of a jetwash for your shoes at the end and weather that varied from bright sunshine to freezing hail and you have a great day! Well done PJC - more next year please! In short: Hills, mud and rain In full: Did this in 2007 but had blotted it from my memory, so couldn't remember a thing about it. I did have an uneasy feeling at the mention of Butser Hill though...
It's a tough race, especially with so much claggy mud, but the marshalls are absolute stars, as were the gals in pink mentioned previously. Jet washing the feet was a cracking idea too.
Excellent cake! Date of review: February 27, 2011

In short: You know its a tough event when you're fed cake and Mars Bars at the water stations and your trainers are jet-washed at the finish In full: Tough and I'm glad I did it but need to let the pain fade before I comment on whether I'd do it again. Date of review: February 27, 2011
