In short: Organisation for the race was good, and the race was well marshalled. Weather perfect. Told on completion that I need to run faster to get a large T shirt. Put a real downer on the day - 1 Mars bar & an apple to show for my trouble! Not impressed! In full: Organisation for the race was good, and the race was well marshalled. First time to run this race, and only my third race since taking up running again 1.5 yrs ago. Plannd on 2:11hrs, but official time was 2:15:22hrs which I was happy with time as I read the RW forum and knew about the hills, but still underestimated them. Very happy with my performance, but not happy with the medium T shirt and the comment " you need to run faster to get a choice". Perhaps a notification of required size on the entry form could help this next year, or ditch the T shirt and give medals instead. Might have to consider only entering races with a medal in the goody bag! Goody bag contained a Mars bar, an apple a T shirt and a highlighter pen.... not quite sure why! The race was a personal challenge, and I would run it again but would look at the weather forecast first as I would not like to do it in flood conditions! Date of review: November 5, 2006

In short: Undulating! In full: Having read some of the comments about this race, and seen a copy of the route profile, I was a bit concerned about the number of 'killer' hills there seemed to be.
Certainly it is a hilly course, but the real gradients don't hit you until the 8 and 11th miles, which is probably where you could really do without them! Not too bad though - and it added to the fun.
The route is lovely - really pituresque with lots of lovely houses to gawp at, and not much traffic to contend with.
The organisation was great - the baggage tent was fantastic, especially as it was so cold, we got away on time, the plentiful marshalls were all smiley and encouraging and - going against what someone else has said - I thought the goody bag was alright! for £11 you get a great half marathon, a long sleeved t-shirt, an apple, a mars bar and...... a marker pen!! What more do you want. I thought it was a bargain.
Overall - definately one for next year - well done Marlow Striders. Date of review: November 5, 2006

In short: Didn't expect so many hills! Killer - but a challenge. V. poor goody bag, but that's not why I ran the race Date of review: November 5, 2006

In short: Tough course but very rewarding (and very well organised) In full: Glorious day, enthusiastic race marshals (and a lot of them too) but quite a challenging course (in particular the 8 mile hill). I turned up >15mins late because of car problems but they still let me start and the marshals couldn't have been more supportive.

In short: Like running in the lakes In full: Great support...great course....a little too steep in both directions. Hill just before Mile 8 is a killer, but downhills afterwards a boon. Will come again...and a pb for me Date of review: November 5, 2006
