In short: Fantastic Marathon In A Fantastic City
In full: Sorry I'm not very good at writing reviews but I shall try my best:

This is a fantastic marathon for all abilities.

The organisation is superb and with the added benefit of Alan joining in the Runners World forums answering questions and giving the latest information and updates as soon as possible.

I never had to queue for a toilet....a first at a marathon event

The course is brilliant, giving a mix of residential and industrial areas, as well as dockside and park areas. Support is very good, patchy in some areas but I believe this is due to the variety of the course, however even through the industrial areas the marshalls are encouraging and friendly.

For first time marathoners who may be put off by comments about the hill at 18 miles, it really isn't a hill, a slight incline but nothing major unless you live in a completely flat area of the Country, and once your at the top you have the benefit of knowing that you will be coming down it a few miles later.

Baggage collection at the end was superb, many people having their bags waiting to be handed to them as the baggage staff were looking ahead for numbers approaching the lorries in order to find the bags allocated to them.

If you are looking for a superbly organised atmospheric marathon for next year this is the one for you. I'm definately returning again.

In short: Fantastic - Cannot fault it one bit!
In full: RunLiverpool, who organised this event, did themselves proud, as did the amazing people of Liverpool who turned out in their thousands to offer the best support you could ever wish for. The exit out of the Queensway Tunnel was really emotional, and the highlight of the whole course. The killer hill around mile 18 is tough, but hey, if marathons were easy then everyone would run them, right? A brilliant race, and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of running a marathon.

In short: The Tunnel and The Hill
In full: This was my first marathon, and was a complete gamble!! It was a brilliant gamble. You start in a park the other side of liverpool, you go though the park to the coast of the north west!! The weather was perfect and there was nothing nicer to pace yourself than the calm irish sea along with a sea breeze!! Really great stuff!! You then head down towards a nice area and then to a tunnel. The half way point is in the tunnel which is a real brain tester!! Mentally its a challenge but just when you think its getting too hard..you hear the drums and then the noise and then wow!! Its like your a star exiting the tunnel with amazing support, and this was after the first runners had gone though maybe an hour before!! Amazing!! The run then takes you though liverpool and up a very cleverly placed hill at mile 17!! I was warned about this and found it ok but for the novice its a real killer!! You then proceed around two parks where the support was less but i cannot fault the support teams at the aid stations. I was pretty much out of it at this point but those small words of encouragement were fantastic!! Once your though the parks, the last 2.2 miles are downhill. If your a beginner, your legs will be burning, your feets will be hurting with every step, but the crowd makes it feel like a breeze and you finish to a big crowd outside the liver buildings. As a said this was my first marathon, it won't be my last!! Fantastic!!

In short: Loved it.
In full: I like that the race is effectively split into 2 halves between Wirral and Liverpool, and this provides a nice mix of scenery. The support on the wirral side was ok, but the atmosphere in Liverpool was outstanding. The sound of the drums builds up as you climb the tunnel and when you finally emerge, the noise from the drums and the crowd is incredible. After that, running along the strand with such large and vocal support urging you on makes you feel 8ft tall. I was dreading the climb out of the tunnel, but the climb up parliament street is worse. This course may not be the best for PB seekers. Going out of the city to the parks, I expected the support to drop, but this wasn't the case - their enthusiasm carried me round the parks and back into the city.

So, to sum up, this is a great race. Its a nice mix of coast, city and parks, but its the support which makes this race. Special mentions to the drummers on the tunnel exit and the dancers on princes road. A fantastic experience.

In short: Best day of my life - I will never forget it
In full: The longest I have ever ran before was half marathon but seemed to breeze it to 20 miles without a stop. Much of this was due to the amazing people lining the streets who were so inspiring it was unbelievable. People literally were shouting encouragement to you like they had known you all their lives and this was one of the main things which I Wwill remember forever.

The scenery too was brilliant - Im not from Liverpool so forgive me for not knowing the placenames but the stretch down the promenade was brilliant and cooled you down really well. However after just passing half way and coming out of the tunnel to the drums and literally thousands of people cannot be put in to words.

The finish too, being down hill meant that those painful legs were able to hammer out the last mile at what felt like a sprint.

One word - unbelievable.

If I do have one slight gripe that is some of the other runs I have done have had better goodie bags in terms of what was in them but the t shirt and medal are stunning and will be cherished forever.

If you are thinking about doing a marathon whether it is your first or 100th do this one - cant wait until next year!!!!

In short: Excellent Marathon. Organisation, support, volunteers and Course superb!
In full: Will definatley be back next year, very enjoyable race. The organisation was excellent from start to finish. Support on the course was great, quiet in some places, but that allowed a little recovery before you were dragged along again by the cheering crowd. Exiting the tunnel was a great experience.

Didn't notice the hills that much, but think that was because I had trained for them and they was not as bad as expected.

Great technical tee & Medal at the end

In short: A bit of everything
In full: Very well organised event. Quite a varied experience - parks, industrial, city roads and of course the tunnel. The support tended to come in big gatherings, with long stretches having few or no spectators. Water points and stewarding were all very supportive and well-drilled.

I stupidly ran with an injury so I'm determined to come back next year and enjoy the route with a bit less pain.
