In short: Great race - highly recommended In full: Very well organised race and a good sense of fun - the "John Motson" style announcer was a hoot. Brilliant marshalls and very well organised. Had an problem with the chip timing and was initially missed off the results but the scarily efficient race director soon got that sorted and arranged for Power of Ten to be updated. He even personally handed over the prize I should have got on Monday evening - hows that for service! I could probably manage without the meal worms in the goody bag so that would be my only request for next year - less worms and more chocolate. Date of review: December 11, 2012
In short: I was the lady marshalling in the big red sombrero. The organisers take pride in making this a good race, well done to all involved, especially Neil! A brilliant day. Date of review: December 11, 2012
In short: 1000 people entered, how many more wanted to run no one knows. In full: If you like road races then this has to be on everyones list, it has everything besides a flat boring route, dull uninterested marshalls and the expense of a great north run. Date of review: December 10, 2012
In short: Simply the best In full: It's all been said already but this race is second to none. Many thanks to all involved (the marshals were superb) As young Mr Grace would have said "you've all done very well". Date of review: December 10, 2012
In short: Best race in Stockport! In full: Long hills, dreary estates, main road traffic but it is really quite a laugh and a fine race that somehow rises far above the sum of its parts. Date of review: December 10, 2012
In short: Still the best race in the calendar, bar none In full: Another triumph for Stockport Harriers. The fun and surreal humour do not detract from the fact that the organisation is taken very seriously indeed.
The names on the bibs was a great idea (I was very nearly last and to have people cheer me on by name as I came back into the park was brilliant.)
The marshals are superb and plentiful.
How Tony Audenshaw keeps up a brilliant commentary for 3+ hours I have no idea. I think I am a tiny bit in love with him.
I don't know where Stockport Harriers go from here, because short of hiring Johnny Depp to rub me down afterwards, I'm not sure how this race can be improved.
