In short: Well organised race, good for a PB (in normal weather!) In full: The strong winds put paid to any chance of a PB for me this year, but the course definitely has potential. Having said that, it was more undulating than I expected, with the short sharp climbs at the end of the first lap and 200m from the finish being the worst parts. Marshalling was very good, and there was plenty of support in the town centre, a bit less on the more remote parts of the course. Date of review: October 29, 2013
In short: Nice course, good support definately worth the trip In full: Course is enjoyable and traffic free, fairly flat except for the end of lap one and the final finish. Marshaling was excellent, lots of encouragement. Only comment would be better signing for the badge collection point, start point and a shame its not chip timed at the start and finish...PB could have been 20 seconds faster :( Overall very good. In short: Decent, traffic-free course with PB potential... In full: This was my first time out in this 10k and I wasn't disappointed.
I quite enjoyed the two laps (not something that I usually like), but the course was more undulating than I expected, with the latter 2k's (4/5 & 9/10) the toughest. It still has PB potential though (I was bang on mine today). Traffic/pavement-free running was another plus point, while easy parking and good marshalling topped things off nicely!
My only gripe was the lack of signage to race HQ. I was one of the early birds and, with the front of the Harlington Centre not being opened until well past 08:30, we were left scratching our heads as to where to go. Still, at least I'll know for next year! Date of review: October 27, 2013
In short: Well organised, close to my house, does what it says on the tin In full: This was my 3rd time of running the Fleet 10k - it's about a 5 minute walk to the start from my house. It's good value for money with plenty of drinks/chocolate at the end and a medal. A gently undulating course, can be a bit tough on the second lap. Lots of support and great marshalling as always.
I was much slower than in previous years but still managed to bag a bottle of wine as part of a team prize. And that's my only criticism - the prize-giving needs to be a lot slicker. Sort out who has won the prizes, make sure you have a working microphone and make the winners feel a bit special! But otherwise a great event and I will be back next year. In short: As good as always In full: One of my favourite events, this is a pleasant two lap course along the carriageways of closed roads in leafy suburban Fleet with chip timing. Thank you to the organisers, the marshals, other volunteers and the tolerant drivers. A nice medal, bottle of water, banana and choice of biscuit or fun size chocolate bar were waiting for us at the finish. I would have preferred to have paid an additional £1 for race number to be posted to me because I always struggle with attaching them to clothes I’m already wearing. Date of review: November 4, 2012
In short: Well organised and enjoyable In full: An enjoyable local race, as with all urban races the scenery was a bit dull and there were too many cars around (although the roads on the course itself were closed and the course was very efficiently marshalled) but this was a very well organised event and excellent value for money. The town centre location meant that there was plenty of parking and the community centre was a good venue to wait for the start on a cold-ish day. Thanks to Fleet AC for excellent organisation and an enjoyable event. Date of review: October 29, 2012
In short: A good, well run local event In full: Impressed with the organisation, the number & quality of marshals, and to get chip timing, medal, snack, lead vehicle for a very reasonable price was impressive.
Decent start location with indoor waiting, hot drinks, bacon butties and decent loos.
First lap through the high street with supporters was good, and a welcome boost on the second lap, but it's still a town centre run along roads and it is undulating. Even so, lovely local running club that deserves a thumbs up for the day
