In short: Worth doing ...if you can get there really early. In full: I must have been one of the last few entrants for this event, but I'm pleased that I did it and will enter next year.
NEGATIVES: The two tube lines I needed to get to the event were both out of action! Obviously this is not the organiser's fault, but I do hope that they bear transport problems in mind for future events. The lack of toilets at Piccadilly for over 20000 runners was a disaster, couldn't wait around to use them. However, I was fortunate to spot that the toilets at Green Park Station were open, so used them instead (NO WAITING for those!). I will try and get there earlier next year, as I had to wait 1hr to get to the start line. The water stations ran out of water, even though I had already overtaken several thousand runners ...NOT GOOD! Some tight corners caused congestion, lost 3-5 mins in trying to overtake slower or group runners.
POSITIVES: The scenery of many landmarks is enough to keep you going, even when you're tired. There were lots of spectators giving plenty of encouragement, particularly at Westminster. The finish line was wide, so no possibility of congestion there. The walk back to the baggage area was long, but actually needed as a warm-down (well done there organisers!). The baggage area was secure and staff were friendly & efficient.
Goody bag & medal: The bag itself was an Asics branded plastic gym bag. There was a Gatorade energy drink, an energy bar and ofcourse the 15% voucher at the Asics store (in the race programme). The entry pack included a good quality white t-shirt as a memento with the event name and year on it. The medal had the event name, year and Asics brand on it. The ribbon holding the medal was branded with the same details and the Union Flag too. Date of review: August 1, 2009

In short: Good race spoilt by poor organisation In full: The start was very slow with no staged starts so I spent the first few minutes dodging slower runners. Still I managed to get a PB nonetheless Date of review: July 29, 2009

In short: Great way to see London without running the marathon! In full: Bit of a long wait at the start, not enough loos (the trees in Green Park an exposing alternative)and running out of water at mile 5 was slack. Music uplifting though and amazing London views. Date of review: July 18, 2009

In short: Could have been better organised In full: I think starting with the BUPA 10KM spoilt me, the start took forever to kick off, information was brief and there wasn't a lot of signs for things. They ran out of water!!! so only water stop was gaterade at 5km... taught me a lesson, will run with own water! Date of review: July 18, 2009

In short: Great Race. Needed more than 1 water stop though In full: Well how "clev trev" has run this four years in a row when its only the second year it has been running I'll never understand. May be he means the Half marathon! Good race. Well organised. Needed more water stops as the number that there were on the literature provided was less than on the day. I look forward to breaking my 46.12 next year. Always a lovely flat run Date of review: July 17, 2009

In short: Note to organisers - PLEASE LISTEN In full: This is the fourth time I have competed in this event. I think it has potential to be truly spectacular - if only the organisers would listen to negative comments from so many participants. But they do not. Every year I read the same comments - which I completely agree with. Please, please get your act sorted out and give this event the high profile and status it could have. In short: Let down at the start-line; could have been sooooo good! In full: Everyone who's ever run this race has spoken about the chaos at the start line, and i see why now. i was positively near the front, yet still had to swerve around an obstacle course of walkers and plodders. surely a starting pen system based on predicted finishing times would have been the sane choice? if not, at least an honour system by us runners in which if you know you're going to walk from the start, you don't head to the front of the line? In short: Busy and let down by organisation In full: Very busy race, I got there in plenty of time but still took 30 minutes to get over the start line and had to run around lots of slower runners on a narrow course, up and down pavements. PB potential is low due to numbers and narrow streets. Date of review: July 17, 2009
