In short: One of the toughest races i havce done to date.
In full: An all round tough race, but very well organised, the course was clearly marked and the marshals were encouraging. An all round good atmosphere.

In short: Muddy, hilly rough n tumbling fun!
In full: Well-organised race with encouraging marshalls and excellent cake/refreshments at the start and end. Beautiful scenery all the way around. Loved running through the water and the mud - not so sure about some of those hills though. Hardcore or what?! All in all, a fun event with the aim of 'surviving' rather than racing.

In full: Next year I'm going to do some hill training and wear better suited trainers!

Excellent fun - muddy, hilly and windy! Breathtaking views of the Wiltshire Downs, plus amazing cakes to fuel up on after.

In short: swesome- my favourite race to date!!
In full: well, those hills are certainly tough but the downhills felt amazing and the views were great! Got absolutely covered in mud, feet soaking wet and legs nicely aching. Fab race- will most certainly be coming back again. Friendly atmosphere, loved the cakes at the end- you have to do this race!!!!

In short: Excellent race!
In full: My first experiment with a non-road race and what a great race to pick! So hard, so much fun, and so rewarding! Good camaraderie the whole way round. Thank goodness the rain held off.
Already looking forward to next year!

In short: Very steep hills, mud and v tough
In full: Maybe it was the Xmas excess but I found this very hard. The defrosting two-week frost also made for interesting terrain (ie either slippery mud or rock hard). The first hill set the standard - steep with semi-frozen mud). Then it just seemed to get tougher and steeper. Gave up trying to stay upright on the decline - sledging with your feet (or @rse). All-in-all this is a very well organised and tough race. 10 miles was enough! Will be back next year for more of the same!

In short: Rough 'n' ready
In full: Second year for this tough but rewarding race. Old age doesn't come alone and I gleefully made this my first race of the new year, obviously forgetting the 'steep' learning curve of 2008. 'Rough' means basic, ie outdoor, changing facilities but with a 'ready' smile from the organisers and marshalls. Although this event is 'seriously hard', there was more than a glint of fun in the organiser's eye. Loved starting line up comment from Stephen Goulding that, although the course had mile markers, GPS owners were not encouraged to question accuracy because "I don't care!". This typified this special race for me. Yes, it is a hard race, with a top 50 reputation - drawing in some well known elite athletes and celebrities - but it is certainly not elitist. All are welcome and those that dare, win their own personal battle with the unmitigating Marlborough Downs (seemed more up than down!) terrain and elements!
