In short: Overall a very good race
In full: Very well organised race. Water stations plentifull. The first half had a great atmosphere with a well supported crowd. The marshalls in the second half where great( big thank you to them). Did not like the new and long route around the water sport centre. The wind did not help!
T-shirts where great again but the goody bag was abit thin this year (i loved the cake of 2005).

second time ive gone this race and would 100% do it again.

In short: Loved the first half ... hated the second!!!
In full: This was my first marathon and overall I quite enjoyed it.

The first half I thought was fantastic. Superb route through the city and out to the University. Great atmosphere and well organised.

The second half of the full marathon was dreadful. To me it seemed like an after-thought by the organisers. Dull and tedious loops/circuits around a bleak lake to make up the miles. Parts of the second half were along un-made paths and roads full of pot-holes and loose rocks. When your legs are turning to jelly this is surely an accident waiting to happen. At one point along the side of the Trent I was met with a family on a bike ride who were shouting at me to get out of their way (just what you need after 24 miles!)

The marshals for both the first and second half were superb. As were the people of Nottingham who came out for the first 13 miles and offered support.

No chance I'd do the full course again ... but I'll definitely be back for the half.

In short: Excellent course this year, great support, Cooler than last year but windier
In full: The changes made to the course from last year have improved things greatly. Although there are still a few testing hills in the first half, they are nothing like the ones of last year. The support and drinks stations were excellent, the only slightly annoying thing was the relay changeover points which got in the way at times. The extry cost is high. This is slightly offset by the excellent organisation but a poor goody bag and no t-shirt (an extra £12) if you wanted one) were the only down points. I'll definately be back next year

In short: Enjoyable Course, new PB by 9 mins, marshalls and crowds very freindly
In full: I thought the race was thouroughly enjoyable. The atmosphere was excellent. The pushing past the relay runners at change over points was annoying.

In short: Good but not as good as GNR just yet
In full: Was a good race that was well organised and the support was good in certain places. The windy bits around the university were pretty tedious though

In short: Excellent race, thoroughly enjoyed run.
In full: As a novice i thought this was an easy to follow and a very well organised run. I have only ran in 2 10k races and this was my first half, although i had trained for it, i smashed 10 minutes off my best training run, The atmosphere was fantastic and the crowds and marshalls were very supportive to everyone all round this great course. I even enjoyed the hills, Defanatly do this one next year. Looking forward to the Great North now in a couple of weeks. :o)

In short: The epitomy of a race of two halves.
In full: I really enjoyed the first half of the Marathon. The route was pleasant, albeit with a few testing hills. The support along the route was fantastic and the marshalls and drink stations were well organised. By half way I was well on course for a PB.

I hated the second half. By the end of the section by the rowing lake I was utterly demoralised. The lake has a reputation for being windy and boy was it windy! Having so much of the second half by the lake was mind-numbingly dull. When I needed stuff to look at to take my mind off my aching legs I had the same scene for what seemed like hours. Add on some very uneven paths and the lack of support on this section and it seemed like a hell on earth. The only redeeming feature were the marshalls and volunteers running the drink stations, who were fantastic.

I will come and run the half marathon in years to come because the event is well organised but I'm afraid I'll give the marathon a miss in the future.
