In short: Good end to year - challenging course depending on wind direction but loops! In full: First a big well done to the marshalls - rarely have I seen so many marshalls at a race and they were universally friendly and supportive.
Organisation generally was very good. Good race HQ, plenty of announcements. Chips on morning seemed to go well.
Race? Its a three lap route along some of Norther Luton and surrounding roads (2-3 miles along A6 for example) which isnt exactly inspiring. No real hills but plenty of slopes nto challenge you particularly on third lap.
Key to this race is where the wind is blowing. Today it seemed to be in face for 90% of time and against you on big hills which made it difficult.
Not a huge amount of support around the course but runners fairly friendly.
Also a relay which seemed to work well with the three lap nature of the race.
Nice medal. Supposed to be a momento but not sure what that was (no big deal to be honest)
So a well organised run for those who want a challenging end to year. Date of review: December 6, 2009

In short: Well organised, plenty of marshalls, worth the hills! In full: I completed the marathon on this good event. The mix of relay and marathon runners makes sure you are never on your own. The hills aren't difficult, but you certainly feel them on the last lap! I would recommend the event if you don't want the fuss of a big event, this is small enough to remain personal and friendly. I must say the most difficult part for me was walking up the hill to collect the medal! (That was just cruel!) Date of review: December 6, 2009

In short: Hard to rate a race which is cancelled. Would try again. In full: Frustratingly the race was cancelled due to an overturned car on the course. Marshals did the best they could in the circumstances and have offered a refund. Point to note for other race organisers-plan for the worst! The council should have gritted the route better, the start time should have been earlier to accommodate any delays and still allow for a 5 hour cut off. Still trying to recover from the disappointment - just got to focus on the next target now. Date of review: December 8, 2008

In short: Right decision made In full: Disappointing not to be able to run but completely agree with the organisers decision. It couldn't have been an easy one to make and the offer to refund was a generous one, showing good faith and proving how sympathetic the organisers were. I'll be donating my entry fee to the Pasque charity though, no question.
Will definitely be back next year to try again and will hope we get that lovely sunshine again ... but a few degrees warmer at least for an ice-free course! Date of review: December 8, 2008

In short: All considering you made the right decision In full: You cannot blame the organisers for an accident that was discovered just before the race was to start. What they did they did for the safety of all the runners and stewards. Yes I was disappointed but I will be back next year.
The attached link will explain how the stewards came to the decision to cancel the race and if any runner wishes to donate there refund to the Pasque Hospice then send an email to lutonmarathon@ntlworld.com providing you name and race number

In short: Sob!!! In full: 440 mile round trip for my first marathon, if it had to be cancelled then fair enough. But it beggars belief that an overturned car can warrant the cancellation of a MARATHON. In the good old days it would have been pushed to one side, but to some Police forces a car on its roof is a major incident. I stayed in a hotel near Luton railway station, an area I never wish to see again, that is my only gripe. :-) Date of review: December 8, 2008

In short: organisers had the best interests of the runners in mind In full: it was a tough call, but they should be respected for making it. Sorry for all the people whose hopes were dashed by the ice and overturned car. Date of review: December 7, 2008
