In short: Great race, however, organisation for start needs to improve
In full: Great race, scenery, challenge, water/energy stations, cool t-shirt and medal, wonderful fair at end with stovies and oatcakes free to runners! Lots of real pluses. Hence, a shame that the organisers had absolutely no toilets available by the buses at the departure point. This was followed by a two hour sit on the buses. On arrival at the start a hopelessly inadeaqate amount of toilets and a huge rush to start due to late arrival of busses. Ok for us guys who turned their backs and had a quick pee in the heather. However, it is a failure of the organsisers to force women into the embarrassing and degrading situation of having to pee in public at the side of the road as they are so desperate. This neednt have been the case with better foresight and planning. If the organisers sharpened their act in this area it would be a truly suberb event!

In short: the perfect rural race in wonderful highland scenery.
In full: Couldn't find fault in this race anywhere (well, the buses to the start took a while arriving, but that's it for negatives).

Stunning rural course, beautiful scenery, great pockets of support, and a great international feel to the event.

If you do this next year be prepared for the 2 mile hill at Dores, but otherwise, enjoy.

In short: A pretty spectacullar course for a first marathon
In full: My first marathon and was really impressed with the course, the orginisation and the support which made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. We were well lucky with the weather, Saturday was awful whilst for the race there was no wind and a slight drizzle to start with. The hill at 18 miles seemed to go on forever though, was a tough one and looked like is sapped a lot of legs (mine included). Overall delighted that if it is my only marathon I couldn't have chosed a better one!

In short: It's downhill really
In full: Third time, and gets better and better. Even the hill out of Dores seemed shorter this year, although seeing the second half still comes as a shock. Can't do next year, but looking forward to 2013.

In short: Challenging
In full: Like other posts while you could see the effort the organisers put in, they let themselves down with the bus ride. If they are planned to leave at 7.45, then leave then, not waiting for stragglers. Was on a bus from 7.15 till near 9.30. Simply too long and slow a ride with bladders bursting. Start was a little rushed, but it beat standing in the cloud and rain! Hilly course - challenging, scenery great and loads of water stations - organisation shone through from here on. Support through the small villages and Inverness was great. Thanks go to the locals. Because of the hilly challenges not sure a good course for beginners. Organisation at the finish slick and professional. Good run in to the finish line. Shame about the muddy park and would have appreciated a foil blanket (or something) to sit (collapse) upon and recover before leaving. Let's be clear though, these are icing on the cake for an otherwise great race. Thanks to the organisers.

In short: Great race; some great scenery and atmosphere amongst runners!
In full: This was my second consecutive Loch Ness Marathon. This whole event has a very special, different feel you don't quite get from other events. It starts in the middle of nowhere, and most of the course is much the same so there's a special atmosphere as throughout. Scenery is good but you cannot see as much of the loch as you would hope!
Quite a challenging course, very downhill overall but many undulations and punishing climbs to go with it. Final 3 pancake flat miles in Inverness were a relief!
Organisation was disappointing after last year. The buses left for the start line quite late, then took a VERY long time to get there (1 hour 30 mins approx) so we were 15 mins from the race start upon arrival. This was followed by stewards and the commentator rushing us to get our bags dropped and get to the start line in time for the race. We had JUST got there. Give us a chance guys! Not impressed. Also, once again the park at the end was absolutely caked in mud, meaning runners and spectators alike were tip toeing around the place. Use mats or something instead.
Overall a very different and special event and I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

In short: Fantastic event. Well organized and amazing scenery as well. Point to point run finishing in center of Inverness.Other events in Scotland should take note of how well this event is run.
