In short: Several days and several showers later, I still feel that I am carrying a little bit of Sodbury’s sod with me. But I’ll quite happily collect some more next year. Date of review: November 16, 2011
In short: Top organisation from Bitton roiad runners and Gordon Robbins In full: I love the whole event, from the respect given by all the runners prior to the race, to the excellent marshals, and goody bag. The only thing i don't understand is the numerous runners who enter this race and wimp around the mud on sodbury common, if they are'nt going to embrace the mud, why take part ? In short: 6th year in a row for me - it's fair to say I'm a fan! In full: What keeps me coming back every year, driving 2+ hours to spend a Sunday morning getting covered in mud? The challenge, the fun, the mud, the atmosphere, the organisation, the two-minute silence, the Last Post, the friends, the post-race pizza, the general feeling of being properly alive. In short: My fave race of the year In full: Ran London, Beachy Head (which is a close 2nd) Cardiff Ultra etc etc but heads up this race is magic and just on my door step...........A must do !!!!! Date of review: November 15, 2011
In short: Mud, mud, glorious mud In full: Great race as usual and the towel option at the end was a nice change. With reference to the first lost shoe in the very first field...well 'The other man' that was me! Don't make that mistake as cold hands and a well tied shoe means only one thing when you need to undo laces in a hurry - that wasn't just mud I tasted on my laces!!! Date of review: November 15, 2011
In short: Another success for Bitton! In full: My 6th consecutive year - this is the only race that I never get bored of! Superb organisation by Bitton, fantastic friendly atmosphere, the high from this race lasts for days!! Always leaves a big smile on my face. Can we have more deeper mud next year please??? At almost 6ft tall it didn't quite reach chest height! Here's looking forward to 2012! Date of review: November 15, 2011
In short: Amazing muddy run! In full: I did the slog for the first time last year and instantly it became a favourite. I would travel from abroad to come back to this race.
Organisation is fantastic, crowds are brilliant, the course just makes you grin like an idiot the whole way round and the 2 minute silence prior to the race is a great moment for all to remember those lost.
Slight shame that there is no longer a race t-shirt in the goodie bag and my only tiny tiny fault is that the goodie bag seemed far less quality this year than before.
Also, have to laugh at those who entered the slog and did their best to avoid all the mud, not really sure of the point since the slog is known for the mud. Just get in and enjoy yourself!
All in all a fantastic run (despite losing my shoe!So glad I found it again!) Date of review: November 15, 2011
