In short: Good day out marred by the traffic
In full: A good day out made even better by the plethora of water stations issuing cups and sponges-well done.
Only downside was the fiasco of traffic on the way in-caused by inadequate parking stewards and the poor route map. It made sense after running the race but if you're not a local, it's tough to interpret. Especially if you're a spectator.

In short: Very good but a bit of room for improvement...
In full: Really good flat race, perfect conditions, and loved the people sitting outside their houses cheering people!
Only complaints are that we were left waiting at the start for over 20mins because there had been a delay but no one could hear the PA (I was relatively near the front and still couldn't hear anything!) and runners weren't separated based on time so the first mile or two was very congested with slow runners!

In short: Friendly race. Flat and fast, perfect weather.
In full: Great race. Nice sea front scenery, two laps not a problem in my view. Traffic free and well organized, with lots of marshalls. Enthusiastic water stations - plenty of cups and sponges. Small negatives: the mile markers could have been more consistent and unfortunate delay at the start.

In short: Good race the support was fantatsic which is just what u need on those last few miles!!!
In full: Annoying delay where we all got a little chilly!!!But overall good race lots of water stops and sponges. Did not love the little hill just before mile 11!!!! er yuck my legs were made of lead by this point!!!! But as my first half quite impressed!!!Time 2hrs 10mins wanted 2hrs but just glad I finished LOL!!! Well done everyone!!

In short: ive had better
In full: after the 20 min delay and the boring (and frankly lazy) route selection i get to the end to find the promised t-shirts were only in kids sizes (i didnt see many five year olds on the course). other than that the water stations were good and frequent and the atostphere was good.

In short: The absence of the blazing sunshine of last year ,when 25 runners suffered heat exhaustion ,made it a much kinder run.
In full: Last year was I disaster for me as I had to be helped over the line by paramedics with a time of 2 hrs. 15 mins. before collapsing with heat exhaustion. This year I was out to beat my 2008 time of 2hrs. 1 min. and I did it by 9 mins. What a relief to exorcise the memories of last year. The cool breeze and absence of blazing sunshine made it a much safer proposition and I was amazed that I did it so easily while still leaving room for improvement next year.

In short: Flat, fast course, weather was perfect this year!!
In full: Weather was good for the run on a course that has definite PB potential. The two lap route along the coast road between Shoebury and Southend is not the most interesting but their was good support, well marshalled and you had the bonus of the rest of the day on the beach and enjoying an ice cream or two!!!

In short: Festival type atmosphere, enjoyable race...shame about the delay.
In full: Lots of things going on in and around the start/finish. Large number of competitors, some in fancy dress which made it a good atmosphere. Encouraging stewards and frequent water stations. Good race to enter, although long delay at the start due to traffic problems. Would do again.

In short: fast friendly race. Great support from all the marshals
In full: loads of water, sponges and fantastic support form all the marshals and organisers (particularly appreciated today as I was feeling rubbish!) - thanks Southend.
