In short: Great organization, very scenic course, just excellent! In full: My first half marathon, and I don't think I could have chosen better. The organization went like clockwork, everyone was very friendly, the course was beautiful and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Plus, I was very pleased with my time. I'll be back! In short: Fab race through the stunning new forest In full: This was my first half-marathon and i was very pleased with my choice of venue. The new forest is a wonderful place to run, and i think i'm stick in shock at seeing wold pony's galloping along next to me.. not a normal sight for London i can tell you!
I thought organisation was marvelous and everyone was very friendly, most especially the marshals! I was also super impressed with how many locals came out of their houses to cheer you on!
I must say that the course is quite tough, and definitely not 'flat'... It has some good gradients which seems to be more uphill than down!
I'll be there next year!

In short: Fantastic race, expertly organised down in the New Forest In full: Top race yet again and the slight course change made for a huge improvement in the traffic problems of recent years. Warm day with a few good challenging hills but a nice down hill for the last few miles made for a quick finish. Glorious scenery in a beautiful part of the world. Well done to the organisers. In short: Done the half marathon, really nice feel to the event and plenty of hills but not a lot of shelter from the suns In full: Race well organsied and marshalled. Long walk from car park to the start, maybe could do with some toilets in the car park. The sun definitely had its hat on which made it a little on the warm side. Plenty of hills, water and sponge stations, plenty of people cheering the runners on which made everybody pick up their pace. The free hog roast roll and salad for all competitors at the end in the local pub was a really nice and unexpected touch. Probably will do the Stansted slog/slug next year as I am a Portsmouth Jogger. Thanks to everybody who helped with the organisation and marshalling of this event. Date of review: September 21, 2008

In short: A good race in the sunshine In full: You could quibble about the car parking, delayed start and the placing of a couple of the water/ sponge stops but all outweighed by the significant efforts of the marshalls to make this essentially a car free track (despite the huge traffic queues that built up). Well played to them and the enthusiastic support. Date of review: September 21, 2008

In short: Another successful New Forest Half Marathon In full: The usual slick organisation, although I think they gave up on the timing gates at the start. Like last year the weather was a little on the warm side, but there were plenty of water stations and sponge stops although I wish we could get away from plastic cups which are no use for getting water downs ones mouth. Best result of the day though was shaving 10 mins off my time from last year and setting a new PB - at last I have broken the 90min barrier. This is in no part due to the fantastic support from marshals and spectators throughout the race. The most enthusiastic of all were at the riding stables around about half way round - thanks to them for the vociferous support. Date of review: September 21, 2008

In short: Organisation poor compared to other years but scenery still wonderful In full: They've previously set their standards high but I found the organisation a bit of a mess. Arrived an hour from the start queued for about 1/2 mile on the main road to find the car park was closed as it was 'full'. It was, but due to the style of parking rather than the number of cars. They moved everybody to the start but with a few minutes to go all the pace markers were being held by one person. I'm not sure if there were any water station signs but I didn't see any and missed the first two. One was water and sponges, I didn't realise and ran towards the end of the station to find there were only sponges. On the plus side, a lovely day and a challenging race. Still one of my favourites. Hopefully back to it's best next year. Date of review: September 21, 2008
