In short: A lovely run in the country, but without the mud In full: My first time at the NF half - beautiful scenery, enjoyed every minute of it, including the hills. Some great motivational signage along the last hill and a very enthusiactic marshall and her son too - which all helped the climb. Locals come out to cheer along, great marshalls - could have benefited from a banana or something at the end - a cereal bar doesn't cut it! Date of review: September 25, 2011

In short: Tougher than I was expecting, but lovely race In full: Running in the New Forest is always a pleasure, and this was no exception. Picturesque route, although pretty challenging and windier than I'd have liked. Yep, there weren't enough loos, but I managed to find the shorter queue so no big issue for me, thankfully. All in all, really well-marshalled and a very friendly crowd. My only complaint would be about the bloke on the PA, who also does the job at the New Forest 10 every year. Please - if you or anyone who knows you happens to read this - can you stop moaning at the crowds. Stop telling people to cheer more loudly. Stop telling people to get out of the roads because 'there are cars and you'll get knocked down'. And please, in short, cheer up, lose the miserly headmaster schtick and appreciate the fact that so many people have come to give support - loudly or otherwise. In the 500m walk from the sports centre to the car, I heard four separate groups of people complaining about him, one in a very entertaining way that can't be repeated here, but which was some way funnier than anything I heard him say all day. Sorry to rant - but cheer up or shut up! Date of review: September 25, 2011

In short: Great race in a beautiful forest setting! In full: I got to the line with just minutes to go so missed out on the toilet issues that others seem to have had. The car parking seemed to be well organised with ample parking not too far from the start. The course and marshalling along it where second to non, gorgeous scenery (being the New Forest)very supportive and encouraging marshalls. I had a great day overall and would highly recommend this race. Date of review: September 25, 2011

In full: Lots of cheery marshals and support from the local villages makes this event. The new route made an interesting change with a little more challenge in it. We've done this race lots of times and it's always worth the trip down to the New Forest Date of review: September 25, 2011
