In short: Well organised race on a fast course with plenty of support
In full: Lots of support from the marshals and the spectators - and the commentary team - for runners all the way through the field. The course is fast, no significant hills but not dead flat either. Nice medal, technical T-shirt and well-stocked goody bag made it excellent value for the price. Well done, Handy Cross Runners!

In short: What an opening mile !!!
In full: One of the hardest starts around but from one and half miles it`s relatively downhill. Great starting and finishing venue - plenty of free parking. Excellent value - I cannot remember a goodie bag like that for that entry price. Water stations in the right place & spot on with the numbers. Helpful & cheerful marshals. Good support from spectators. Highly recommended. Well done to Handy Cross Runners for an excellent event.

In short: Folks, I missed the Grant and Stone Wycombe half marathon start by 17 minutes (I got the postal code incorrect - not completely my fault- Race Organisers!!!)
In full: I met a race marshal named Allan who got me registered, helped me pinned my numbers and ran with me for three miles till I caught up with the last runner.
He was chatty and in high spirits and left me in capable hands with other friendly marshals.

The second mile had a devious hill that went on forever. I really wish I had time to take my inhaler. The funny thing was that for the first time in my entire life I was over taking runners and was not once overtaken! The course was very tough. My legs were seriously hurting when running downhill.

The road was lined with smiling marshals and spectators shouting your running number and clapping. I did not have time to bring enough water and lost time filling my 500ml bottle. If I knew there were so many water stations I would not have bothered.

The last mile was really hard. You had to go into the woods where you could see the finish line. However, I was told by a marshal that it would take four minutes to get to the end. She was right it took me 4 minutes to drag my legs to the finish line.

For the half marathon I got a beautiful rectangle medal, a beautiful yellow technical t-shirt, and a goody bag with a drinking bottle, apple, orange, mars bar, pen and lots of other items. I was very impressed.

My time was actually 2 hours 8 mins. Would I do this race again? YES!!! THANK YOU ALLAN, without your kind help I would not have been allowed to run the race ;-)

A message to the race organisers: Please re-design your application form with your race details and postal code. You should have returned my SAE with the race details!!!!!

In short: Great organisation and value. Challenging route.
In full: Great half marathon. Hill at the start makes it such an achievement to finish as it really tires your legs early on. Not a PB course. Will defintely be back and what great goodies for a £10 entry fee. Well done Wycombe! You showed others how to do it!

In short: Fantastic marshalling, hilly but fun and great atmosphere
In full: This was my (and my partner's) first half marathon - couldn't praise the marshals and the locals enough, everyone was super-encouraging and cheered us on all the way around, even people who seemd to be locals walking their dogs! More toilets would have been good, I started queueing for the loo at 9.10 and missed the start but we should probably have queued earlier,we will next time. Very nice goody bag with t-short and medal. Not sure how many beginners were there, but really lovely atmosphere so I think this made a great first half mara. definitely be back again next year

In short: Outstanding Half Marathon, probably the best in the South. Impeccable organisation, easy parking, chip timing, magnificent course, friendly natives, fantastic medal, and the best value goody bag I have seen in a long time.
In full: In 1993 I ran my first Half Marathon at Wycombe. 17 years later and with well over 100 Half Marathons completed, I still believe that this is probably the best Half Marathon in the South, possibly in the UK. There is a horribly steep climb in the first couple of miles, which paradoxically means that you can forget your PB and just enjoy the race, which is undulating and pleasant with a surprising amount of greenery and coutryside. The organisation has always been impeccable, car parking is right next to the start, and the M40 junctions at both ends of Wycombe make getting there a doddle. Wycombe also has some of the most runner-friendly inhabitants I have ever encountered, often setting up their own ad hoc water stations, or, in exceptionally hot years, sprinkler stations. Fantastic. In value for money terms, it is hard to beat. This year's goody bag contained a technical T-shirt, top quality medal with a map of the course on it, Mars bar, apple, orange, fruit bar, energy powder, bottle of water, pen, food supplements, and I am almost tempted to say sliding doors and conveyor belt. Unbelievable value for the £15 I paid for my on-the-day entry; even better for those club runners who entered early and paid about £12. With a field of just under 1000, the race manages to have a big event feel about it, but somehow also manages to retain the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a small event. I have no idea how they do it. I will be comong back to this race every year for the forseeable future.
