In short: Great race and truly flat course made for a PB weather permitting In full: It beats me how so many runners complain about the course being boring given the Golden Mile ,Roller coasters , shiprecks , seafront and Peter kay style compare. The only down side was Energy drinks were not where they were supposed to be but at least there were some. Its a great race. Date of review: April 30, 2008

In short: Friendly marshalls, good atmosphere, well organised In full: This was my first marathon, and I really enjoyed it. Marshalls really picked me up when I was struggling. Lots of water stations. Good do with another lucozade stop though. WIll be back next year. Date of review: April 30, 2008

In short: Mind numbingly boring In full: The potential for PBs on this flat course holds little sway in convincing me to take part again in 2 laps of uninteresting and unbelieveably boring race Date of review: April 29, 2008

In short: Overall a great race just a few issues In full: The course was great i thought, but i do favour a 2 lap course, only part i didn't like was when we went down to the beach front and there were no crowds it did get a bit lonely and with no one there to see you it became tempting to walk.
The marshals in most parts were brilliant, very friendly and a big thanks for staying out in the rain, however a few marshals down on the golden mile really didn't want to be there they were non responsive and looked very bored.
The pre-race facilities were poor they really are my only complaint, there were no changing facilities at all, there was no where to sit! we needed up in the corridor sat against a chained up door not the best, the toilet queues were big but they did go down quickly for us ladies.
All in all, it was a very good race, i would do it again, i got a huge PB compared to FLM last year.

In short: A definite PB course In full: The course wasn't short, garmine were losing signal at the top of the cliffs near Bispham. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the route map that was sent out. Other than that it's a great race and a decent goody bag. I'll be back next year for a PB. This run really should attract more runners. Date of review: April 29, 2008

In short: Great run, poor before event organisation In full: My first marathon -pre-race nerves took hold and was twitchy throughtout the week before. Race info posted out very late and map of course was a joke. Telephone calls to organiser were answered by his wife? in a very surly manner. Only wanted to know where the mile markers were to give supporters an ida of where to go! Was promised large 7 feet long map of course at the event exibition, which was on the day before. Arrived to view map afternnon before the race. No map. No explanation. Asked where I could store my suitcase - surly wife said it had to fit into small plastic bag! Ridiciulous really. The "supeloos" should have been "clearly marked" around the course. Runners were even told to tape 20p to the back of your bib to use them. Guess what - the superloos were nowhere to be seen. All in all, the organisers should be more professional in their approach to the needs of the runners. After all, without runners....... Glad to say that the race itself was very well organised on the day. Good signage and well marshalled. I carried my own water, after reading about water problems in previous years, but all water stops were well supplied (they just weren't where the map siad they were going to be!). Marshalls were very friendly and I ran a really good race.
I wouldn't run this race again though. The amateur attitude of the organisers to the runners left a lot to be desired. Date of review: April 28, 2008

In short: overall good impression for a first race In full: was carrying an injury throughout the race so cant judge as fairly as some but I found the marshalls and crowds ( including other runners) to be quite friendly and supportive. The distance could use checking as like many people my satnav recorded a distance 0.8 out. thats only 3% error but when running a marathon its important to be sure you're running the whole hog! though Im sure they measured it properly. Toilets were an issue, pre-race preparation was hampered by 20mins queuing. this wasnt a problem for the half marathon back in feb but there were no additional facilities to cater for the increase in runners.
