In short: Great day out! In full: This was my first race. I really enjoyed it. Some nice views and the crowds were great. I was quite realistic with my time estimate, though it seemed thousands weren't. The first 3-4 miles I was just overtaking people many who were walking! I don't have a problem with people walking, but why were they in the faster waves. This caused severe bottlenecks at the first couple of bends. Other than that a few extrs toilets might be nice. But overall I loved the race and will be back next year! Hopefully there was a lot of money raised! Date of review: January 21, 2010

In short: Great atmosphere and course, but getting out of the carparks is getting awful! Date of review: December 9, 2009

In full: I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this race, but I was certainly impressed. The organisation was fantastic and the course was entirely flat, making it perfect for beginners and fast for those more serious runners. The scenary was fantastic; you ran past various sights such as HMS Victory, Spinnaker Tower etc. And the crowd suppport was fantastic. In fact, I prefered this event to the Great North Run. I think the compactness of the Great South Run meant the support was constant and there was plenty to see. Boy was that wind strong on the final 2 miles along the beach front though! In short: Flat with a windy finish. Well organised big event In full: Well organised mass event. Flat and fast, but beware of the wind. Gatorade bottles were too big and I'd say not enough loos. The price is ridiculous. But great one to run for charity. Date of review: November 7, 2009

In short: A great day out by the seaside. In full: Third time I've done this race. Great support from spectators and marshalls round the course. But please please can they put some marshalls round the exit of the finish area? It took me ages to get out after collecting my goody bag - not funny when you're cold, worn out and want to get warm and get some food. Why can't people wait at the alphabetical meeting points just over from the actual finish area where there's loads of room? But, will be back. Already booked for next year. In short: So glad I took part and hope to return again In full: I'm not local so planning for the Run was crucial. Decided to make a holiday by renting a cottage on the Isle of Wight and just come to Portsmouth for the Run on Sunday morning. This worked well for me as the hovercraft took 10 minutes and the start was less than 10 minutes walk.
I would definately like to do this run again but it worked out very costly for me simply because I'm not local. If I lived in Hampshire, I'd do it every year without question. Date of review: October 31, 2009

In full: Great friendly race for all levels. Very supportive crowds especially some the charity supporters. Would prefer the mile signs to more distintive from the bupa signs. Also not sure what happened with the waves. I estimated my time as sub-80 mins and given a orange wave a number but the 80 mins pace maker was at the back of the orange wave.
