In short: First time at a Reading Road Runners event and will be back for more In full: Loads of really positive parts to this race, in particular the marshals around the course. Numbers more than expected, very supportive and willing to give up their Sunday to stand out in the cold. Big cheers to them all!
The only suggestions for next year would be to increase the loos for the blokes, and be aware that for some runners it will be the furthest they have ever run. I can run <1 hour for a 10k, so my aim on 20 miles was < 3hr 30 mins. This put me just inside the time for when the school closed (after getting goody bag and collecting my clothing bag).
In conclusion though, a good positive experience and I hope to be back again next year. Date of review: February 13, 2012
In short: Third time I have done the race. Great marathon prep. Good quality field. I was in a group going thru 10m in 1,02. Even when I was dropped I still had people around. Organisation first rate as usual. Date of review: February 13, 2012
In short: Well organised and enjoyable In full: Impressed they managed to put this on with the icy weather, but organisation all round was top notch. I did the 20, two mildly undulating laps of 10 miles. Definitely consider this a quick course. Date of review: February 13, 2012
In short: One of the best races in the year, brilliant organisation & marshalls In full: Everything was so perfect for this race and a huge credit must go to the organisers as well as the marshalls who made this such a special race. Thank you Date of review: February 12, 2012
In short: Brilliant Bramley, definitely worth including into the Spring Marathon Training Plan In full: Travelled over from Cardiff to combine visiting friends with a training run and this certainly didn't disappoint! The pre-organisation was great, excellent race-pack, and kept up-to-date via the website as to the status of the race in relation to the weather. Organistaion on day very slick, great parking facilities, with toilets (big plus point almost always overlooked and when you have travelled some distance the bladder is almost always bursting by this point!), great toilets at site and baggage drop. Course is flat as pancake, there were no major hills, a couple of minor slopes at 8 miles but nothing to drop pace on. Excellent encouraging marshals and singing cadets, who had they of actually had some vodka would have been very welcome as it was blinking freezing out there today! Overall big thumbs up RRR, will definitely consider coming back for this one again in 2013 despite the 260 mile round trip. Date of review: February 12, 2012
In short: Great organisation if very cold! In full: Well done to all the organisers, the race went like clockwork. The second lap of 10m seemed a lot colder than the first (the hills also seemed steeper). The marshalls were great, very cheery even though they must have been frozen. In short: An excellent 20 miler. Thanks to the marshals who were very supportive and the army cadets who were very encouraging and vocal! Excellent race and a new 20 mile P.B, I will be back next year. Date of review: February 12, 2012
In short: An excellent way to start half term week - a really enjoyable run In full: Very good organisation, lovely scenery and friendly support. One or two upward stretches but generally a good course for a near beginner like me . well done to reading roadrunners and all the helpers. Next year I might even try the 20 mile version!
