In short: some tough inclines in scenic venue In full: Had done this race in 2006, but forgotten it is some tough work! The multi terrain footing and constant ups and downs, some of them fairly steep made for a relieving feel at the finish
again as per 2006 the race had to be delayed. And again did I only see 2 toilets? Not good enough in a race with 400people. Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Hard multi-terrain 10k, but well worth running In full: I found this race tough, but I had been suffering with a cold for the last week. Having set a 10k road PB 2 weeks ago I was disappointed to be 4 minutes off that pace, but agree with someone else's comments that you should expect a time 2 mins slower than your road pace.
The scenery is great, the course mixed including roads, fields, woodland tracks, metalled tracks with pot holes, and finishing on a village green. The mix of surface was interesting, but not too disruptive.
I definatley want to do it again next year in a better time. Date of review: June 4, 2007
In short: So good I will return(500 mile round trip!) In full: Was down from North Yorkshire for the weekend and found this race. It was worth every penny with lovely people tremendous organisation superb challanging off road coarse , whilst keeping a wonderfull village green charm . Date of review: June 4, 2007
In short: Great multiterrain race in beautiful countryside In full: It makes a change to be able to do a multiterrain race in the summer, and what a fantastic course this is. It's without doubt one of the most difficult 10ks I've completed, but I had a fantastic morning out yesterday. I only decided to enter on the morning of the race and am so pleased I did.
It's very undulating, with around 75% offroad. That said, as it was dry, racing flats sufficed fine and there was no need for trail shoes - even in the rutted woodland.
Great organisation (they'd even laid on suncream!) and nice prizes too.
My garmin measured the course as 10.33km BUT what does it matter on a course like this when times aren't an issue anyway?
Expect your time to be 1.5 - 2 mins slower than your road 10k pb. Date of review: June 4, 2007
