In short: Good event, well supported by locals
In full: Nice course and organisation (maybe a little over organised). This event was very well supported by the people of Mablethorpe and its surrounding villages. It is a flat course which is favourable for a P.B if the weather permits. Well supported on the last few miles along the promenade but this is not holidaymaker free so you still have to be on your toes.

In short: Fantastic marshalls, nice scenery. Villagers were out in force to cheers us through. Road closures made the race safer. Good to run along the seafront and get lost of support there. Only downside, lack of water between 2.5 and 9 miles. Spot on

In short: Heat overshadows race
In full: With very little shade and baking hot sun this may be a flat course but it was not easy. The half had one water stop at 3mile and the next about 7.5. In these conditions that was not good for beginners. Farm land with no views and a handfull of bystanders. allong the front it came alive with plenty of support and a little breeze. With a better field the 10K could have held finnished as the half started. As it was there was a few minutes between. Stewards watched as a car nearly nocked me down refusing to move across. In the right weather and with more organisation this could be a good course, where you look forward to the final coastal 3 mile run.

In short: Superb organisation, nice course, shame it was so hot
In full: Best thing about the race was probably the detail of organisation gone into the race and the wonderful spirit / encouragement that the race marshals showed at every point.

The course is as flat as you can hope to get for a full marathon in the UK, absolutely minimal traffic in most places, although it seemed to be headwind for about 85% of the course?

Could possibly have done with the marathon starting a couple of hours earlier to avoid the hottest part of the day, and boy did it seem hot. I think the results reflected that to some degree.

I was hoping for an energy drink station in the later stages of the race. My mistake for not checking and taking my own. I was minorly disappointed that the medal only said "road race" and not "marathon". Is the “Marathon” distance of 26.2 miles these days not considered worthy of mention?

The cruellest part of the race must have been using every last ounce of energy to reach Sherwood fields bridge, only to be told that we have another half mile to go around the block to finish. A half-mile that I walked 100% of because I had nothing left. Would be nice if next year that part could be avoided (stick a bit extra on the start instead please!!!).

Minor gripes aside, a superb day out. I’ll be back next year!

In short: Well organised and scenic race but the heat made it a real challenge.
In full: Mablethorpe has done itself proud and put on a great debut event. Something for everyone - choice of distances for runners, and lots of distractions for the families.

Having done the marathon, there were a few missing distance markers (I was ok with my garmin)which would have caused concern to alot of runners, but this was more down to mischievous kids than the organisers!

The scenery was attractive, but lacked much variety - 26 miles of quiet rural lanes can get to you after a while but the diversion along the seafront was welcome.

The drink stations were frequent, and along with the marshalling was very supportive. The blistering hot and sunny conditions warranted these frequent water stations, and the provision of bottles rather than plastic cups really helped me with staying hydrated.

I was amazed with the volume of local support, and this really pulled you through when I badly crashed and burned in the last few miles.

I hope the event will happen again next year, but I hope the sun stays away!

In short: Fun, small and nicely organized race
In full: This was a great race, specially having a 10K, half and full marathon all together and the first year! Very friendly town, marshalls and organizers!

In short: Had a fab first race, took 8 mins off my PB. The marathon should have started first but these are things they will learn with time. I have to say the older helpers were out in force and mablethorpe did a fab job for a first timer.
