In short: Its a local race - thats the positive bit. In full: The course is dull running thru housing estates, the medal is so cheap and tacky compared with the past 3 years. Yes you get a tee shirt, but its just covered in sponsors logos and a map of the course. Like you'll be wearing that down the pub on Friday night. Mine was supposed to be a large, more like XXL.
This is one of the only marathons I know of that if you finish in an average time of 4- 4.30 you'll be running by yourself for the last 2.5 hrs.
I keep hoping WOlves can pull it out of the bag, but it just doesn't any get better year on year.
The good points are the marshals were fantastic, the Gregs food bag is great as well. Expect support from locals on the 1st lap, but on the 2nd lap most have gone. Def wear head phones! Also Brian Smith and Bryan Dale taking free outstanding photos. Date of review: September 4, 2011
In short: Great day, never doubted it !! In full: Looking at some past reviews it could easily have put some people off but, orginisation was very good even at the car parks, plenty of toilets at the park, great atmosphere, route was decent [it is a city centre run after all]medal,t shirt, goody bag.A great day out. In short: A well organised event In full: This was the second marathon in wolves for me. An enjoyable event, very well organised and a great start/finish point. Plenty of toilets. Plenty of support from the locals. Water points spot on. Well done to all the helpers, st john and the air cadets. It rained in the morning then cleared up for the marathon. The course wasn't completely flat but still a challenge for all. Beginer friendly, chip times, medal, t-shirt and goody bag. Showers a short walk away. Well worth the trip. In short: nice race and course which was a lot better than the towpaths of the birmingham black country half marathon, not old enough to do a marathon but i wouldn't have liked to do the 2 laps. Date of review: September 18, 2010
In short: My 105th half Marathon and 3rd year in a row and I think I'll be back again In full: Great Organisation and a challenging course to get you a PB. Water stations excellent with bottled water, marshalling great and what support there is along course was excellent and vocal. Chip timing, medal, t-shirt and goody bag for price really good. Slight congestion at start with slower runners but will take you a minute or so to pick up your own pace. Good run in after tackling slight hill at 10 and a half miles. Friendly atmosphere as always with other runners, marshalls and support. Date of review: September 13, 2010
In short: Flat, dull course but good organisation. In full: Not exactly scenic! But the natives were friendly. A few locals out cheering. Hard doing 2 laps for the marathon as the course is quite boring. Lots of water stations & bottled water. Friendly marshals. (My only gripe that they took them in before the last people had finished.) Good organisation. Wendy in the office very helpful deferring entries. Good value as chip timed. Nice commentry as you finished. Medal ok, though identical to last year. Date not on medal, just ribbon. T-shirt & goody bag too. Good race overall. Date of review: September 10, 2010
In short: Great Event In full: This is the second year I have done this Half Marathon and I was really pleased, even better than last year due to mile markers....yes there were some slow runners at the front but it fanned out after 100 metres so it wasn't really a problem.
Also to the people sying it was hilly, you must be joking? one of the fastest half marathons I have done by far...yes there are a few hills towards the end but they are not big hills?
Well worth the money and i'll be back next year, oh and pb'd this year and last :-) Date of review: September 9, 2010
