In short: Fas,flat race, good support from the crowds In full: Overall, well organised.Just a few small gripes. Delay was ok today, as it was sunny, but would have been a serious problem if cold, just too long standing around waiting for the start. Record entery, but can the race cope with this many people? I can understand why they want to include as many people as possible, but would certainly be better with a smaller field. Having said all that, I enjoyed the race and got a PB! In short: Lovely day, lovely atmosphere with lots of pre, during and post race things happening, and great public support. Pre-race organisation was much better, as were better pens for runners with different times. End much better too. In full: Lovely sunny day again! Pre-race pack was very good. Atmosphere before start on day was relaxed, with nice pre-race area. Not enough loos near start. Pre-race organisation was much better, as there were better pens for runners with different times. Public support during race was very special, though some sections a bit sparce. End much better than before, as runners quickly funneled away out of castle. Organisation in baggage area not good - lots of confusion over where to go after, and conflicting messages from marshalls. One real let-down was the goody bag. Absolute pants, and as a Lincoln resident, embarrassing! Date of review: April 3, 2011

In short: Flat fast course in a beautiful city with loads of good people to cheer you on In full: Positives - PB potential the cobbles are no big deal only a few 100 meters, great support all around the course, great medal (if you are into that kind of thing) Negatives - Many people in the sub 40 section who shouldn't have been slowing fast runners up suggest proof of time to get into this section if they are looking at increasing the entry size next year, parking issues and heavy traffic, late start. Overall great race and would do it again : )

In short: Lovely day, nice course, but the organisation was poor yet again In full: I have done this race for the last few years and the organisation has improved but it has new problems every time. Access to the official car par was denied to us at 10.15 due to the buggy race, this was not made clear in the information, there were no sign posts and as a result of this many runners had to be dropped off on the bypass, not a good start. Too many runners, very crowded, and even with phased starts there were still people in the sub 60 group walking, will they ever learn, so even slower runners like me had to dodge in and out. Start was delayed yet again, people got cold, its a long way from the back to the start line anyway !! And why hand out 500ml bottles of water, with the lids intact, very stressful to open while running, and such a waste. Finish is much better, but the last 3k are on a slight incline, with the cobbles at the end, thus my PB was wrecked. Goody bag, well no goodies, just a medal, which was nice, a bottle of water....and a load of rubbish,...not sure I want to go through this again...there are plenty of other races to choose from. In short: Good course - good atmosphere - minor issues at start In full: This is a good event for experienced runners to get pbs is suitable for novice runners to step up to "big feel 10ks". First time at this event and so I don't know about whether the course in 2011 is an improvement or slight worsenment, but either way I enjoyed it and so did my son who was doing his very first 10k.
Clearly some issues at the start which had we have had adverse (wintry) weather, would have been a problem but given that we were in warm sunshine wasn't an issue. Good event and one that I will return to. Disappointing to see some parking on the streets early in the morning clogging the area up in order to save £1. Date of review: April 3, 2011

In short: Shambolic In full: What a shambles of a start and finish. The schedule for the various races was far too tight to be achievable. No one was informed of revised start times and the starts and finishes were simply chaotic. The poor kids were stood around for far too long, then subject to a far too vogorous warm up then had to wait ages for their start. The announcer at the stage also had the gall to shout at the kids for standing around and that they should keep moving. The organisation was dreadful. The adults race was equally chaotic. Too many runners for the course and start/finish. When announing that Lincoln 10k is in the top ten for 10k races in the UK. They should clarify that means for numbers of entrants, not for organisation and quality of event. Definately won't be back and hope the school challenges move to a different race in future as well.
