In short: Good fun going through the puddles
In full: Last minute change of distance was a shame but found the course very flat and quite fast. Very muddy though along the canal stretches, had to be very aware of the low bridges and saw one nasty accident (hope the guys head isn't too sore tomorrow morning) involving the entrance to one of the bridges. The marshalling was very, very good and 2:09 should be very proud of their team. Will be back next year..

In short: Lots of mud and `wide' puddles. Flatter than last year.
In full: I really enjoyed this run. The organisation was excellent with good facilities at the Lakeside and plenty of friendly marshalls.

The stretches along the canal were very scenic but I had to concentrate on not slipping over due to the mud and puddles.

One advantage of the different route was the absence of the steep hill that nearly finished me off in last year's run!

In short: Finished very wet, very muddy and very happy. Great race, would definitely do it again
In full: Last minute course change meant the race was shorter than advertised, but since it meant the loss of the hills I didn't see many people complaining! A very wet morning meant that the towpath was very wet underfoot and we had to wade through some floodwater at one point - reminiscent of the Hellrunner type of race in parts! Luckily the earlier torrential rain eased a bit for the race itself though. Great organisation - being able to get your official chip timing straight after crossing the line was a nice touch. Overall, loved every minute!

In short: Great fun. Loved the new route. Loved the mud
In full: I much preferred this new route. The first half was a bit dull, but the stretch of canal is much nicer without those irritating little ramps at the locks. First-class organization, as usual, and friendly marshalls. One thing puzzled me. Why were the women all queuing for the block of four portaloos and the men for the block of six? I'm afraid I joined the 'men's queue', and so did a few other women once I'd started. These are portaloos, they are completely unisex.
I loved the mud and the rain, I feel so much more elated at the end if I'm covered in mud and soaking wet!
