In short: So good I wish I could have gone around twice In full: Not many better ways to spend a Sunday.
Very close to home but the route opened up parts of South London I wasn't aware of making this a really enjoyable trail/road run.
All the good bits: The sun didn't really start to shine until i had finished making conditions nice and cool for the run itself and warm enough to sit out on the grass resting afterwards.
The route - slightly challenging, a few nice hills, lovely forest trails and minor roads with a railway bridge thrown in just remind you that the centre of London is only 30 minutes away by train.
Marshals - great support, wasn't quite expecting to hear the split time being announced by someone lying in the brambles at half way.
Start was very well organised - with the time pens making the first few KM less crowded - apologies for not fully adhering to the intended pause between groups but I blame those to my right for sneaking off and breaking the tape first
Slight gorilla gender confusion, certain he was a she but whatever nice one Woody ;)
Spectators - First Class. Especially the crowd at 7k - you could hear them all the way through the woods. lots of locals out in their gardens clapping and most drivers showing great consideration and stopping for the marshals on the road section.
Almost ran a PB - slight miscalculation and brain misfunction at half way split made me think i was not going to do it - so i eased off, settled into a nice pace telling myself the route is hilly, not made for PB's and enjoyed the views.
Quality gong at the finish, Ms Woody distributing bananas and the ladies from the local hospice serving tea and cakes. The PB can wait.

In short: A great race, one of the best 10K races around In full: You couldn't ask for a more nicer 10K. I forgot about the uphill section in the last 1K. Really well organised and nice support at the 7K point which I am sure helped a lot of people push on to the finish. Will certainly be back again next year. Easier to park in the station car park and just a 5-10 minute walk rather than try to find space on the surrounding roads. Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: A great race,. Thankyou PWR! In full: Yet again PWR put on another great race and set the standard that others hope to achieve. The best 10k medal you'll find anywhere, from an appreciative ORR. Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: Everything great except the mailing of the race pack. In full: This was my second year of running this event, having thoroughly enjoyed last year's event.
NEGATIVES: My race pack arrived very late this year, even though I had entered on-line in August. I had to phone up the club to find why my race pack had not arrived in good time like last year. The chap I spoke to (John Gurney) was very good about the matter and assured me that there would be a plan B. In the event, my pack did arrive, but at the sorting depot! As the postage was insufficient, I had to pay another £1.10 to take the package. On top of this, it caused me no end of bother to get to the depot to retrieve the package. There were quite a few public transport diruptions (not the fault of organisers) but it didn't make for a positive start mentally. I'm sure last year's race numbers had an area to write your name on it. It meant that marshalls could encourage you by name. It would be great to have that back.
POSITIVE: The baggage drop-off area was manned very well by youngsters, who were very polite to boot! The race did start a little late, but this was okay, as many runners faced transportation problems (afore-mentioned) and some ladies were still waiting for the toilets. The race itself was very well marshalled and the km markers were frequent. Unlike other races I've ran in, there were two water stations on this course. One station had cups of water and the other had bottles of water. There is a section in the final quarter of the race where some Petts Wood residents provide really good encouragement in the woodlands.
GOODY BAG & MEDAL: The medal was the same as last year, but what a nice and big medal! The ribbon attached to it was royal blue colour and had the exact date of the event on it in large font, as well as the start time of the race 10th October 2010 @ 10:10am. The goody bag had a Snickers bar in it and you could collect a banana too.
I intend to compete in this event again next year, I really like the course and MEDAL. However a strong message to the organisers 'please refer back to the original way of mailing out the race packs'. Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: What we have come to expect In full: I only live a five minute drive from this excellent Sunday morning race, which is now a permanent fixture on my annual calendar.
I was 30 seconds slower than last year, which I can't blame the organisers for!!!
Great marshalls, excellent support, top race.

In short: Very well organised and friendly race In full: I have run this race every year since the start & each year it gets better. Some great changes, the staggered start to stop congestion and the use of the field to stop single file running was a nice change. Nice to run on the road and through the woods. Great support from the marshals and spectators. Will definitely be back again next year. Thank you to all the organisers, other runs could learn from you. Date of review: October 10, 2010

In short: Lovely race, real community feel, not for breaking records In full: A well designed and marshalled route, passing through a mix of suburban roads, parkland and national trust woodland. The undulating route is challenging. Some sections are narrow, and this is the key reason why PBs are unlikely (unless you are at the front). The staggered start (based on estimated completion time) does help. Would definitly recommend this. Date of review: October 10, 2010
