In short: What a lovely race In full: This is obviously a real labour of love for the organiser, and it pays off. The atmosphere is great- I've never seen such a friendly, cheerful bunch of runners Some real effort with the fancy dress too! And the course is pretty good too- if you like hills... but all that uphill effort is rewarded with a great downhill run to the finish. Date of review: January 1, 2009

In short: The only way to start the year! In full: If you are thinking about doing this run then go for it! You will hurt but it is definitely worth it. The organisation is perfect (a special thanks to all for such a great job). The scenery is fantastic - when you feel up to looking. And when you finish you get all sorts of goodies - most importantly a carrot which you can have with your New Years Day dinner!
Then there are the great costumes! I was chased up and down a hill by an attractive nun today - how often does that happen? This is definitely a very special race and I will be back next year and may even consider some fancy dress myself. Date of review: January 1, 2009

In short: As good (and as mad) as ever... Dr Rob rules! In full: I love this race!
It is good that we humans forget pain, or there would be a tiny crowd for the Knackercracker. As it happens, it has been great to return to the New Year insanity that is the Knackercracker, and lots of costumed people clearly agree. It was a good day for it, and the race was organised with Dr Rob's usual brilliance. Well done to the speedy winners, and to Masai Warrior and Bathing Woman for their winning costumes. Thanks to all the great marshalls - the cowbells were an excellent addition this year - and thanks to Mrs Dr Rob and family for the end of race soup and rolls. I've already forgotten the agony of the climbs and the steps, so am ready to sign up for 2010!! Bring it on! Date of review: January 1, 2009

In short: Fab atmosphere, hellish hills but so much fun! In full: Wonderful scenery! The hills were killer but the "it's down hill from here" signs put a smile on everyones face, lovely and friendly people, some downhills just as crazy as the ups! Incredibly well organised, the chopped up mars bars, haribo, cheese and pickle rolls and soup were very much appreciated, and the mug, medal and T-shirt are all a lovely reminder of it. Thanks so much for the great time! Fantastic costumes, no chance of a PB but totally worth doing, great way to start the new year! Date of review: January 1, 2009

In short: Insane In full: ABsolutely ridiculous way to spend New Year. Hardest hills, steps, more steps, lunatic downhills, sweties, steppping stones, more steps and the last km that makes you feel like you can fly. Worth doing for that alone- makes you forget the first 9k! Organisation everything you could ask for, cheese n pickle rols and tommy soup at the end, brill mug and excellent long sleeve techy t shirt. Next year? Try stopping me! In short: Mad as you like - ideal New Year's resolution In full: This is s great way to start the year - hills, more hills, some mud and more hills. You won't get a pb but you will get a huge sense of achievement, lots of friendly support, sore legs, the feeling that you might have walked a little less up the hills and a mug of hot soup. As usual this Trionium race is organised expertly by friendly and supportive marshals. A genuine highlight in the race calendar. Date of review: January 1, 2009
