In short: Rough Surface in places and quite narrow, But pleasant enough In full: More a trail race than anything else. Seems to be mixed up with a few other races as no hills in site even though some reviews mention them. Course runs out and back and then back again along the river tow paths. Wore road flats for this (mistake) and struggled a bit on the surface which is quite rough in places. So on paper could be a PB course, for me turned not to be so. Quite narrow in places but they stagggered the start a little to avoid congestion but quite a busy wee route so some weeving in and out Sunday wakers and Bikes. Very pretty area and probably a good race for novice runners as found myself much further up the field than I normally would Date of review: October 19, 2010
In short: Nice park, but killer hills! In full: I entered this race as it was local and for a good cause. There was a good atmosphere and everyone there was in good spirits.
NEGATIVE: There was a little problem with some ribbons which held the medal. Some of the ribbons like mine were missing the event name and date and it was just plain black. However I only realised this when I saw other runners with the printed ribbon on the train. I was annoyed that there wasn't somebody to let the unwitting runners know. The course was more challenging than I had anticipated, who decided to put THAT last gradient in? it was hard on the legs.
POSITIVE: The problem over the medal was dealt with in a very positive/friendly way by David Krangel (race director) who issued me with the correct ribbon/medal after I phoned him. For those thinking about entering this race, be prepared for a hard race, but a good atmosphere.
Goody Bag & Medal: It's a small medal (4cm diameter) but the ribbon does have the event name and date. Everyone got to pick up some bananas and water/energy drinks. The lady handing out the energy drinks kindly gave me two energy drinks, I certainly needed them!
Many thanks to the chap who ran 6km of the race with me, even though he was a foot taller and had a longer stride length than me! We chatted all the way through, but he went solo with 750m to go. Talking to him helped divert my attention away from the pain in my legs! Date of review: July 20, 2010
In short: one to try just for the area and organization. In full: thanks to dave and his team for entering me only the night before.easy parking and well marshalled event meant it ran like clockwork. will definately try some more of the fix events in the future. oh and even the dogs new to stay on the left? In short: My first ever 10K. Was well organised and had a great atmosphere. In full: Even though the terrain was a little lively I managed to get caught up in my first ever 10K and beat my PB. Had a really good race and will definitely be signing up for next year. Date of review: March 27, 2010
In short: Well organised, scenic and fast. Can't ask for much more. In full: The race buildup was great, with a very energetic girl with the mic doing her best to build the atmosphere. Only minor quibble would be the queue for the loos which was a bit long.
The race itself was well marshalled, with clear km markers, and very scenic. Pretty much totally flat, albeit with some large puddles and mud patches to navigate at some points.
All in all a great race for both faster and slower runners.
In short: A nice little event In full: This was a nice day out, in a pleasant part of London and on flat trails. Organization was excellent, with plenty of advance communication, efficient chip handout and starting bang on time with phased starts. Date of review: March 27, 2010
In short: Really fun, very well organised! A real laugh! In full: This was my first run, so it will always be very special for me! Greenwich Park is lovely and we were really lucky with the weather: it rained before and after but not during the race! The race was really well organised, marshalls very friendly and encouraging! Lovely medal and goody bag for all at the end and the costumes were hilarious! I'll definitely be there next year!! Date of review: January 7, 2010
