In short: Piece of cake....
In full: ...was a nice touch at the end.
Really enjoyable race, reminded me of school XC. A race to not worry about times, but just to run for the pure love of the sport. Don't let the "Toughest race in the UK" tag put you off - this is very doable for most runners if you accept that everyone will walk parts of it.
T-shirt, mug, medal & food at the end are all good touches although I'd rather a bit less in exchange for a lower entry fee which I imagine some people simply can't afford.
A minor gripe but overall I loved it and will do again.

In short: Fabulous. Absolutely fabulous.
In full: I have no idea how anyone does this course twice. To the Picnic guys; respect.

In short: My second but not last time....
In full: Ran (??) this race the second time after a few years break. Still a brilliant race albeit with more runners than the last time making the tracks a challenge to pass other runners. Conditions challenging with the slippery terrain & managing to take a wrong turn on two occasions (good excuse for a one minute slower time than my previous attempt!). Otherwise brilliant support from other runners, marshalls and spectators. I thank you all & will see you all again (maybe not for the picnic - the people that complete that are something else!).

In short: My 5th participation, ain't getting easier though!
In full: Don't do many races any more, but one every year and believe it or don't: it's this one! My worst time in 5 years I think, but slippery terrain, bronchitis and others (steps, hills...) hindered my performance :-))) and yet still love it! Thank you Dr Rob for a perfect organisation, thank you to all marshalls! Delicious cake (I had some marble cake yummy) at the end.
I had considered running the Picnic and am SOoooo glad I did not, I never could. UTTER respect for all those who had the guts to run it! What an extraordinary physical & psychological 'tour de force'. Well done. I will be back next year, hopefully in a better shape!

In short: Overall fantastic!
In full: This was my first Midsummer Munro and my first half marathon! Clocked in a respectable time of around 2 hours 35 as well I think. Everything about the race was brilliant, the marshals, water-points & jelly babies. Plus the medal, mug and t-shirt at the end was a real icing on the cake. I'll definitely be doing it again next year!

In short: Two words describe this race. The first one starts with "F" and the second one is "Brutal"
In full: I thought I would be better prepared for the challenge after running it last year but, oh no. Was struggling with the inclines after 2 miles and it just went from bad to worse. The uphills were just mad - especially the steps. The downhills were suicidal in the mud. The "chute" was an exercise in concentration to avoid going A over T.

The stepping stones - so so funny as I realised I couldn't actually see them due to the water running about 6 inches over the top of them. Soaked feet and a quagmire for the next 100 yards afterwards.

So hard but so rewarding. They don't call it the toughest half in Britain for the sake of it. You really earn your medal and T-Shirt afterwards.

Well done to all the organisers and other competitors. Anyone who goes on and does the full Picnic marathon has some serious respect from me - I could just about make it down to the car park afterwards, let alone running the course again.

In short: Very, very tough. Very, very special.
In full: This one left me with a bigger smile on my face than any non-marathon race I've done. Incredible views, great organisation and - compared to the big city halves - an absolute bargain, considering you get a great medal, tech t-shirt and mug, plus sandwiches and cakes at the end. It's very tough whether you're going up or down - the stairs up are nonsense and the down was seriously slippery - but then what's the point of running if you don't test your limits now and again? Overall, quite a lot more World War One than I was imagining, but somehow an absolute treat, and an event I'm proud to have been a part of. Great support and marshalling too.
