In short: This was my first MVP - & it lived up to what I had heard - mud, mud, hills & a bit more mud! Hell of a course, brilliant marshals (+ the v loud girls in pink!), awesome atmosphere, scenery & cake. My legs feel like lead, bit I will be back! In full: This was my first time at this race and i just want to say well done PJC! Somebody with a seriously warped sense of humour designed this course - a series of harsh ups & worse downs, mostly ankle deep in mud which managed to suck your trainers off whilst also sending your feet in every direction but the one you wanted! It may have left my legs like lead flavoured jelly, but the scenery was to die for, the course was brilliantly well marked, the marshals friendly and efficient and the food stations well stocked with cake. Add to this the offer of a jetwash for your shoes at the end and weather that varied from bright sunshine to freezing hail and you have a great day! Well done PJC - more next year please! In short: You know its a tough event when you're fed cake and Mars Bars at the water stations and your trainers are jet-washed at the finish In full: Tough and I'm glad I did it but need to let the pain fade before I comment on whether I'd do it again. Date of review: February 27, 2011
In short: A course that can make grown men cry - but having done it you can only smile! In full: Thank you Portsmouth Joggers! It is an amazing course in testing conditions - but what a rite of passage type race it is! Well done. Date of review: February 27, 2011
In short: Mud. Lots and lots and sticky mud In full: My 5th time running this event and whilst the conditions are no where near the worst in terms of weather and water on the course, the mud seemed to be the perfect consistency for sliding sideways and sticking to your shoe. There was one stretch what went on for about 4 miles nearly having me in tears. The new Hill at mile 15 was hideous; I had to use the fence to drag myself up.
Having said all that, its still my favourite race. I didn't enjoy this outing but I will be back next year. I huge thanks to everyone involved. And a big thanks to the girls in pink at mile 7. You made a lot of people smile. I could still hear you echoing across the valley at mile 9. Date of review: February 27, 2011
