In short: Brilliant support - almost deafened me! Made up for the killer hills. In full: A great race. Tough hills, especially the long slow one up to 5 miles, but made up for it with the downhills in the last half (I did the 2nd half 8 minutes quicker than the first half) and really fantastic support. It was great to see how many local people had turned out and made a real 'event' of the day. The support was such a boost. Managed to chop 2 minutes off my pb and come just inside the top 500.
Could do with a lot more loos at the start though - didn't even bother trying to use them after a marshal told me there was a queue 'a mile long' with about 10 minutes to go till the start!
Overall a real confidence booster in the build up to FLM and one for next year.
In short: great course9 even the hills), great atmosphere, let down by congested start and finish area and park&ride just did not work! Will leave reeive some of congestion next year by not doing this one again. Date of review: March 14, 2005
In short: Tough but very enjoyable In full: I ran this as my first half marathon and would recommend it to novices and experienced runners alike. It is not nearly as difficult as previous comments would have you believe, although basic hill training is essential. Sharing a small portion of the route with traffic was disappointing but overlal was an excellent race. I will definitely be back next year. Date of review: March 14, 2005

In short: Excellent, well organised and very well supported. In full: Great challenging course, great support (this year the weather was better, which may have helped) Mostly traffic free (1 mile or so shared along the seafront which did make it difficult to overtake at times). Worth putting in your diary for next year. Date of review: March 13, 2005
In short: Great event, well organised and really enjoyable In full: This is the first half marathon I have run for over 10 years. It really feels like a big event with the elite runners and the support/atmosphere around the course, especially at the hospital. The course is definitely PBable, I cut a whole 6 minutes off mine, now down to 89 minutes. I will definitely run next year – thank you Hastings Lions Club! Date of review: March 13, 2005
