In short: Vicar of dibley eat your heart out In full: ran though puddle that came up to my waist only thought it would be shallow. First trail race and also 8 mile race but great atmosphere and sweeper at back of pack with withches brow had to be a reason for being close to the back. LOVED IT CANT WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR Date of review: November 27, 2006
In short: Mud, Mud oh and very special puddles In full: Thoroughly enjoyed it, nice a nd friendly and as has been said wet feet before you even started. The mud was clay like and oh soooo slippery. The phrase still waters run deep has never been so apt, I didnt not expect the puddle to come to my chest especially being 6 foot Date of review: November 27, 2006
In short: Mud, mud, glorious mud... and a very cold soaking wet walk through icy water to start In full: I loved it. Mud and all. Friendly people and supportive marshalls. Beautiful scenery. Gruesome mud and bottomless puddles - yes I fell in. We all did. Great fun. Date of review: November 26, 2006
In short: Very very wet and muddy but excellent fun! In full: Some surprisingly deep puddles, and an awful lot of sliding in the mud due to much rain in the last week. Very friendly marshalls and a great atmostphere - would definitely do again, but would pray for a drier course! Date of review: November 26, 2006
In short: This is the 2nd time I have taken part, and once again I was so pleased to make it to the finish still intact! In full: Well organised event, even though I don't know who ordered all that water at the start - it was a bit excessive!!! Date of review: November 26, 2006
In short: I only fell into the mud 4 times! In full: What an excellent race! (ok so I came fourth from last) but I dont really care. I think there should be a prize for the person who falls down in the mud the most, for that I would probably win........
Thanks for organsing this Marlborough, the I hated it whilst going through the first stretch of "swamp", but by the second batch I was smiling whilst falling.
Obviously not a race to get a PB from, but an enjoyable morning.
A word of warning to anyone looking to do this next year - dont wear new trainers. Some people where wearing football boots and I would say that was quite a good shout.
In short: Trail race with a friendly atmosphere In full: A nice route; a mixture of trails, some easy, some very rutted, challenging but not ridiculous, with a friendly 'small club race' atmosphere. I'll be back next year for more... Date of review: November 30, 2005
In short: Perfect fun... In full: Great race, great organisation! Friendly atmosphere, smiley marshalls and an event to make getting up on a cold morning worthwhile. This is the second event I have attended organised by Marlborough running club and I can highly recommend them. Well funky thick t-shirt and free tea! Date of review: November 28, 2005
In short: Good winter muddy run, it does what it says on the tin... In full: Don't expect regular mile markers and an exact eight miles, content yourself with very happy and supportive marshalls, good scenery, a small sociable field and a reasonable amount of mud. I know which ones I'd rather have! Date of review: November 27, 2005
