In short: More undulating than you espect, not quite as good for PB as others say
In full: * This is the second time I have done this race, the first time I pulled out with a hamstring injury. This time I finished it in 40:11 (41st) which for me - my feeling is: OK I suppose.
* I can say for definite it is hillier than the organises like everyone to beleive. But something that I can't put my finger on makes me like the event, and want to do it again next year.
* The lady (Paula Fudge) who finished one place and one second in front of me taught me a lesson in "never giveing up" in the fight, until you cross the line. She was much more mentally tough than me. At 8 1/2K she was absolutely knackered, but hung in there and just would not give up. She was such a fighter. I was so impressed. She just made me feel I was a quiter. I just can't get it out of my head now that I have to work on improving my mental toughness.
* Both the 1k & 2k markers were not at the correct distsnce. The 2k marker was way out about 300-400 before actaul 2k. But, 3k, 4k & 5k markers were OK until on the second lap where the 6K & 7K markers werer also wrong. This could have off-putting for lesser experienced athletes. One of the runners arounsd me just tutted and shook his head and got on with the race - I thought to myself that is exactly how I feel.

In short: Well organised but lacked motivation
In full: fairly simple race. Drove the route to visualize it like many suggest but I found this bad for me rather than good and didn't particularly like doing a 2nd lap. Got a PB though of 40min. Slow hills (might have been better in reverse ;-) Didn't rain like predicted which was good.

In short: Enthusiastic support twice down High Street; great marshalls offering encouragement to all; good organisation. Despite short sharp rise at the 5k & finish points, it's been good enough for many PBs. Definitely my most anticipated race of the year.

In short: A safe traffic free course with excellent organisation
In full: The start/finish is in the town centre so convenient for shopping by supporting WAGS (and HABS - husbands and boyfriends)!

In short: Enjoyed this first ever race, stopped smoking 6 months ago - yes we all do dull things at times! Looking forward to trying to improve, acheived what I was after for today 47. 51 not bad for a 39 yr old first effort!
