In short: Hard work but worth it! In full: My first Basingstoke Half and second HM. The hills were just seemingly relentless! However just as you were at the bottom of your energy and motivation there would be a crowd of people encouraging you on! Without them I never would have done a PB so thank you! Well organised, superb spectators and support and a real feel good feel to it. Wonderful countryside and a real challenge, whats not to like!
Starting my hill training in the next few days for next year! Date of review: October 7, 2013
In short: Amazing- my first half In full: My first half marathon and it was amazing, the support from all the marshalls and villagers was immense. Cheering everyone on and passing out jelly babies and water, everyone was so lovely. I will definately be back next year. It is hilly but if youve trained I think you should be ok, it wasnt as bad as it looked! Lovely route as well through all the countryside and lots of downhill as well as the ups. Well organised and so quick to get timing chip, t shirt etc and at the end people giving bananas, water, lucozade etc and of the course your medal! Im still smiling :-) thankyou everyone! In short: There is nothing like your home run! In full: I run a lot of races but this is my absolute favourite as it's my home run and we train on the course all summer long in preparation for race day.
Spectators were out in force again this year thanks to the sunshine, the noise through Cliddesden was spectacular as always but there were pockets of people all along the course which was fantastic.
Yes it's hilly but for every up there is a down and I'd rather run on closed country lanes than through a town centre. Marshals were great again, made sure to thank as many of them as I could for giving up their time to ensure we could run safely.
Speedy chip collection, high-viz tee very handy going into winter. Lots of loos and loads of goodies at the end, it was like a supermarket sweep!
Well done Felicity, Nina, Neil et al. You should be very proud this morning.

In short: Very challenging but great views and support, excellently marshalled and organised! See you again in 2014 In full: This race is excellent, my only grumble would be the organisation at the start with runners placing themselves in somewhat optimistic start position which given the lack of space hinders those who couldn't get into their correct category.
The course is a truly testing animal, with some hills that'll make even the keenest runners huff and puff! The scenery is fantastic and the supporters were out in their droves even out on the further reaching parts of the course with supporters offering Jelly Babies and even some unofficial water stations! Given the heat one supporter was kind enough to offer a hose shower at 11-12 mile mark! Whoever decided it was a good idea to end on a gradual hill is a truly evil person.
In summary this one will truly test your metal and will sort the men from the boys and the women from the girls! See you again in 2014 Date of review: October 7, 2013
In short: Don't run when ill - The hills will get you. In full: Despite being ill the night before I was still able to struggle for a 1.55 (much slower than last year)finish with wonderful support throughout. Was a bit hot today but as with last year faultless organisation and a great challenge. Note to self train for the hills! Will def be back well done for one of the best HM's around! In short: Cracking half marathon- will definitely be back In full: Can't find fault with the race. Super swift organisation at the start, Beautiful scenery, challenging hills until mile 8 then relatively flat, closed roads, brilliant marshalls and fantastic, enthusiastic crowds and really friendly runners. A truly uplifting race. And I got a PB :-) Thank you so much to everyone involved . Date of review: October 6, 2013
