In short: Some 'nice' undulations In full: Third time in a row I have done this and once again a superbly hosted event by Dorking and Mole Valley AC. Marshalling was excellent, enthusiastic and friendly. Race course is on the road and around some of the best countryside SE England has to offer. The undulating route proved to be a tough challenge for me this year but this is still one of my favourites. Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: A course with a sting in its tail! In full: A decent, well attended event and one to which I will definitely want to return older but wiser, having been caught out by the succession of climbs in the latter stages.
There was no shortage of marshalls, who did their job well unlike the numpty with the hosepipe at the second water station who didn't seem to understand the words "not for me thanks". Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Suffering from a fast start! In full: Enjoyable race. Unfortunately the combination of fine dining in Paris the previous week, a cricked neck and setting off ludicrously fast meant 7 miles of struggle and runners streaming past. 16 mins off last years time, so not all bad. Will be back! Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Great road race with a few hills to keep you on your toes In full: First time for me for this one. Very good race indeed. Very well organised with a friendly atmosphere. Knocked 6 minutes off my PB even though it wasn't a particularly flat course so was very pleased. Would definitely do again and recommend it to beginners wanting to a try a welcoming first time 10 miler. Date of review: June 1, 2008
In short: Scorchio! In full: Superbly organised, pleasant scenic course. No big hills, just what seemed like a regular series of rises and falls. Look up undulating in the dictionary and it probably says Dorking 10.
You can't do much about the weather - the week before it was throwing it down - but it made it tougher for me than it otherwise would have been. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Nice new course - same hot weather In full: New start much better. Liked new course which seemed marginally easier than previous route. Excellent marshals giving loads of encouragement as well as keeping traffic away from traffic.
Suffered in the heat as usual but not much DMVAC can do about that short of changing the date of the race. Don't understand previous comments about lack of water stations - every 2-3 miles in a club race is pretty generous.
Sadly small t-shirts and fruit drinks had run out by the time I ambled in.
I'm sure I'll be back to do this again. It offends me that I'm always 10-15mins off my normal pace at this event. Date of review: June 8, 2007
In short: Great undulating 10 miler! In full: 3rd time of doing this race, very hot but beautiful scenery. What is everyone moaning about - not enough water stations, there were three! surely plenty! Well done the organisers. Date of review: June 5, 2007
In short: Well organised, great marshalling, hills not too bad... In full: Possible improvements: Have the long lap before the short lap Close the roads to traffic Not sure of the reasons behind the change in course but it seemed that the hills weren't as bad anyway... Fantastic marshalling and excellent race! Date of review: June 5, 2007
In short: Very well organised/marshaled event. I thought that the amount of water stations was adequate. If you are a person that suffers in the heat (and i am) it will alway be difficult no matter how much water you have. Great scenery interesting course Date of review: June 5, 2007
In short: A lovely race in the sunshine. In full: I wasn't sure what to expect from this beforehand but I when I crossed the finishing line I was smiling from ear to ear because it was just...lovely. OK, so the weather was a touch on the warm side, but I really enjoyed the sunshine.
We started at the pretty village green then headed off into lovely country lanes. Some of the views were just spectacular.
The start was efficient, the marshals were very supportive, and everywhere you turned there was a photographer making sure the moment would be captured forever!
I personally was very happy with the amount of water stops, and took two or three sips at each, and then the rest went over my head.
Well done to Dorking & Mole Valley AC for putting on a terrific race, and one that I certainly plan to return to next year. Date of review: June 4, 2007
