In short: Well Organised, loads of happy Marshall's, beautiful views. In full: Atmosphere was great, really upbeat and motivating. Support was great, hills numerous. Mud didn't seem as bad as the Terminator last weekend, beach running was exhausting. Loved the big climb up the cliff face, it was my first but not my last the encounter of the Grizzly! In short: Well done Axe Valley, top notch again. In full: Thanks to all the excellent marshals and the entertainment around the course. As usual a rather challenging course. Took a bit of a tumble in the bog, there is mud in every body orifice.

In short: Sadistic course but very welcoming and friendly. In full: Axe Vally Runners - you are a bunch of sadistic gits. That was harder than any marathon I've done but it was worth it. Date of review: March 7, 2010

In short: Wet - cold - muddy - brilliant In full: Do I get the record for putting in the latest review? My third Grizzly but my best performance in some of the worst conditions. Yet another cult t-shirt to add to my collection. The wind and the mud was endless but adds to the kudos of this event. Can't wait till next year. Date of review: August 25, 2006

In short: Mud water and hills - it must be the Grizzly In full: Entries for the 2006 race were snapped up even faster than last year, only a month for 2000+ entries, and still I made it to the start line for my second Grizzly. Organisation was brilliant again, the course slightly different in the middle, with a section of Weston beach omitted for safety reasons on the day. The weather was cold and wet and still people turned up for this - they must be keen. My time was similar to last year despite running 1.5 miles less on the day, so it must have been hard. Far more water obstacles this year but they did wash the mud off. The scenery is amazing, the marshalls and crowd wonderful, and I can't explain why I want to do it again. This should rate as a marathon, even if it is short of the horizontal distance, some of the climbs more than make up for it. Date of review: June 27, 2006
