In short: Superb organisation, friendly and fast course! In full: I agree with all the previous comments. Shame about the weather, but at least it wasn't freezing or windy on top of the torrential rain. Marshalls were fantastic and very encouraging ....I did the Bexhill 10k a couple of months ago and Bexhill really put on well organised races. Medal is superb! Oh, and the update on your lap times was great ... nice touch. Date of review: November 15, 2010
In short: Enjoyable run despite the weather! In full: This was mine and my boyfriend's second half marathon and despite being completely soaked by the buckets of rain we really enjoyed it. We both did it faster than our previous race, the event was very well organized, everyone was friendly, and the run along the seafront was very pretty. The tea and cakes at the end were also very appreciated! I would definitely recommend this to people who are new to running half's like myself, as the course is virtually flat, it's a bit less daunting. Well done to the marshals, they were all very encouraging, I can't imagine how cold and wet they must have been! Date of review: November 15, 2010
In short: 4 Laps of Speed! In full: A really good half marathon & just about enough of an interesting route not to get too bored given the repetitive laps. Though it rained hard, there was little wind so times I suspect were not really slower. I entered late so applied under a charity place. Bit expensive, but then my fault in not sending my application form in earlier! Great cakes at the end. Date of review: November 15, 2010
In short: Great Marshaling, Great Cause, Great Free Sugary Snacks at the end! In full: A BIG THANK YOU is due to the many brave souls that marshaled this great event,it was very well organized and being my first half marathon having only taken up running and 10k events this year the sweet treats and free cakes sorted out my dizzy spell after completion.... may i suggest a donation bin in the cake tent/race HQ to add to the £2,000 the event raised (Nice Flapjack!) In short: Appalling weather - many thanks to those daft buggers the marshals who stood out in the two hour plus downpour In full: An early half to remind the legs what the full distance is like - spoilt by the incessant precipitation. And it rained non-stop, too. On a sunnier day, it would have been very pleasant. Marshals in all the right places so no-one got lost. Good quality medal as well. Date of review: November 14, 2010
In short: Fantastic race - loved it In full: First time I have done this one and really enjoyed it despite the downpour. Really well organised with very friendly marshalls, thanks to them all for remaining cheery in the rain. PB potential, nice medal and cakes at the end. Date of review: November 14, 2010
In short: I knew it was going to be an Excellent race In full: I could feel it in my bones that Bexhill half marathon was going to be a brilliant race, and I was right! Lets make no bones about it Bexhill half marathon is a fantastic race. The organisation, the Marshals, The Medal, T-shirt, the food and not to mention the chip timing makes this race (yes you guessed it) one of my all time favourites. But I must admit I am Bexhill Runners biggest fan. Lee well done on your announcement skills, you make it look so easy (you can talk for England). I think you deserve a medal for your efforts. The four laps were nice, but to be honest my left leg problems came back to bite me, which has knocked my confidence, this was probably my third most painful run. This race deserved to be rated much higher by Runners World raters. Why? Because it was a bargain, it had star quality, chip timing, attracted big Running Clubs, had tasty cakes, a first class chunky medal and a beautiful red t-shirt. Last but not least the fantastic Marshals who encouraged you all the w-a-y. What really made this race interesting were the runners. Some of the athletes were so driven that when you looked at them you could see the hunger in their eyes and fire in their belly.
Once again there were a handful of Orpington Road Runner supporters amongst the crowd. Thanks for your support it was music to my ears.
Mark my words Bexhill half marathon 2010 will be much bigger and popular – I can just feel it in my water.
In short: Nice, well organised race by the seaside. In full: On a sunny day it would have been glorious but as it was it still had a certain scenic charm at the promenade end of the route once the rain had eased off enough to see anything! Otherwise a friendly race with good support considering the weather and flat and fast enough for a PB even with the wind. Excellent cakes and very friendly marshalls(especially considering how cold and wet some of them must have been!) Date of review: November 14, 2009
In short: Sea front views. Fast flat PB potential, weather permitting. In full: Very well organised with little or no queuing for number collection on the day. The four lap course made it easy for friends and relatives to give support without having to move position. To top it off the finishers medal is fantastic.I will definately be back next year, it is just a shame i missed the first year. Date of review: November 11, 2009
