In short: Even the sun came out! In full: Having been worried about the weather forecast, the sun came out and made this an enjoyable if not painful experience.
The course is undulating, with the downhills all seeming to come just at the right time. There was a good mix of abilities, so I think anyone should have felt welcome.
The lady marshal at the 4 mile point (near Westcote Mews) had more energy than any of the runners and made me smile all 4 times round.
With Edinburgh Marathon 8 weeks away it has given me plenty of time to re-evaluate my training strategy Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: As usual a testing race In full: My second time at the Finchley 20 and it was the same - positive - story as last year. A fine race, a great way to test marathon fitness and pacing, good organisation, knowledgeable marshalls and a challenging undulating course. The only difference from last year? Me! A PB and a top 15 finishing position. Thanks Hillingdon AC. Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Well organised pre London race - good for getting pacing right In full: This is an excellently organised race with good PB potential and requires disciplined pacing. Course isn't the most beautiful, but the recent amendments to the last mile of the lap are a big improvement. As usual Hillingdon AC do a great job. Only drawback this year was that I hadn't the required miles under my belt which let me down. Anyone doing London who lives within 50 miles MUST do this race. Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Not super scenic but excellent marathon preparation. Enough faster runners to pull you along but also plenty of slower ones to encourage/be encouraged by as you get on to the later laps.Enthusiastic marshals too. Good value. Date of review: March 28, 2010

In short: Third time I've run this one, and it seems to get better each time. In full: Great goodie bag, and well stocked drinks stations. I think the sponges were new this year, and most welcome. Nice medal but the same type they gave out in 2007.
Sadly despite passing her 4 times I failed to notice the woman at the bottom of the hill at mile 4, I'll look out for her next time.
