In short: Fantastic Challenge Marathon
In full: My 4th Marathon and 1st Halstead. Good location for the start with plenty of toilets and space. There could have been some kind of band/music or entertainment around the start finish area at the start and the finish. The course is very scenic visiting some glorious Essex villages. This was well marshalled throughout, the drinks on course worked well, although, please please please please can we have water in bottles rather than half filled plastic cups which are impossible to drink from. Excellent medal, well done HRR very proud to be a part of the club

In short: Testing but manageable for a first timer if run sensibly
In full: Couldn't have picked a better event as my marathon "debut." I was aware that it would be a little challenging (those "undulations definitely became "hills" the second time around!)but stuck to my race plan and finished in just under 5 hours. Loved the support en route which really did provide a boost when needed. Well marshalled and well run drinks stations. Faultless organisation of registration, baggage drop and race (and I finished ahead of "Superman!")

In short: All races should be like this
In full: Easily one of the best events I have ever taken part in.
Fantastic organisation. No stress. Super friendly. Glorious scenery. Great supporters. Fun course (not too hilly, although the last climb(mile 23/4?) felt tough!)
I would recommend this event to anyone.
Brilliant!

In short: Deserves its high praise
In full: Got a place on this run after the Shakespeare wash-out 2 weeks earlier. As a result my taper was all wrong and I was coming out of the tail end of a cold. So my sub 4hr plan was shot and I cam home in 4:24. All that said this is a fantastic marathon and has now become a regular in my calender. The ability of the water stations to deliver your own drinks is a touch of pure class and makes even the slower runners, like me, feel like an elite if only for a moment. All the local villagers cheering and handing out jelly babies and extra water was equally amazing (although you my not get that in poor weather). If your into goody bags and medals, i am, this is also a brilliant race (Shakespeare take note). The only thing I would change, and it's been said by others, is charge an extra £2 and make the t-shirt a tech. Finally I think a PB might be a big ask on this race as while the short hills are not huge there are quite a few of them. Thanks Halstead running club for a great day and I will see you next year.

In short: fabulous club marathon - small and friendly
In full: Really well marshalled - marshalls were halpful, friendly and supportive. Drinks stations with runners' own drinks were expertly handled and the whole day ran very smoothly. Had a great run.

In full: First marathon and picked a good one!
Plenty of hills but not too challenging.
Great support from the marshalls and the crowd especially around pebmarsh. ( the crowd making a racket with the frying pans spring to mind!)
