In short: Prilent Morning so far
In full: It was a pity. But I will be back again...next year.I think There should close all the roads before the marathon like 8am inwhich good choice of idea to Close It by the Organiser.

In short: Disappointed the race had to be cancelled but what other choice could there be ?
In full: I've done this race for the last 6 years. The organisation has always been excellent. The organisers had no choice but to cancel the race today due to an overturned car on the course and the time it was taking to clear it.
I agree that it's a disappointing for runners, paricularly those who travelled some distance to the event (I myself travelled from Derby for the race), but also for the organisers and the marshals who had given up their time to arrange and support this event. There are very few marathons left on the race calendar and we should encourage and support those that there are.

A few years ago the Worksop Half was cancelled with everyone lined up on the start line due to fallen trees across the course route due to high winds. They held the race 3 weeks later very successfully.
Is there any possiblility of rearranging the race for early January 09 ?

In short: People should try to understand the problems facing a race organiser instead of criticising hiim
In full: I too was diappointed that the race had to be cancelled but gritting the roads and pavements is not he responsibility of the race organiser who has to trust that the local council would do what is necessary. The race has been a year in planning with a lot of time given up by volunteers who were even more disappointed that us the would-be runners.
A raod accident is unpredictable and one of the risks inherent in a race of this type at this time of year. Instead of carping let's understand the position of the organiser and his team of volunteers and encourage them towards a better race next year.
To everyone who is inclined to be critical I say try and organise a distance race yourself and face the organisational problems that have to be overcome. Let's get away from the blame culture and be positive. Cancelling the race was the right deciion in terms of safety.

In short: Nothing Happened
In full: Like a few, travelled from the Midlands to squeeze one more marathon, if it had to be cancelled, fair enough but why could there be staggered starts, 100 every 10 mins, time was not a factor as we has chip time, we are also running a marathon, its not a case of doing sub 5mins, the pace would be ok.
Hope the event is back for next year, I do like this run.

In short: Nothing happened!!!!
In full: Having driven down from west yorkshire,Paid to stay in a hotel,up early for breakfast got to the race start preped and ready to go You would have thought Luton Council Event organisers and the police would have been able to have arranged for a gritter to have been around the route last night and possibly this morning. The forecasters for once got the weather correct and predicted a sub zero night and early morning. I appreciate there was an accident and I hope no one was injured but I cant help think with hyndsight this could have been prevented. Must Try Harder

In short: I traveled from Birmingham to do this event and it was cancelled...I didn't travel as far as others though. Very disappointing!!!! They didn't even make an announcment to those athletes warming up outside...we found out when people started leaving.
