In short: superb In full: fantastic organisation, well managed, friendly and beautiful course. would run this again and again. It gets better every year. This is a hard course but by far my favourite race. Date of review: February 27, 2012
In short: This was my first ever race. Got fairly nervous when heard about the Spring Hill. It was tough but got there. Organising and support were amazing from everybody involved. i could not have chosen a better race to start with! Date of review: February 26, 2012
In short: Challenging but wonderful In full: I was made aware that this was quite challenging and it was! Especially with 1 particular hill! This is definately a route to do when ifn training for a full mara. The route is definately hilly and difficult but well worth doing. The organisation is spot on, the marshalls, pacers, vooulenteers and everyone involved in making this race were absolutely fantastic! Thank you all so much! Date of review: February 26, 2012
In short: One of my favourites and this year was the best ever! In full: Superb - TW Harriers put on a fantastic race with great organisation (toiler marshalls were great!). Special thanks though to Dame Kelly Holmes and Richard Whitehead for staying on at the end to give out medals. I left after about 2hrs 10mins and they were still going strong with permanent smiles and always happy to pose for photos etc., Much appreciated.
Weather was quite simply incredible - February and we were all basing in warm sunshine!
The weather helped to bring out record crowds who were supportive throughout as were the hundreds (it seemed that many) marshalls.
I have even forgotten about Spring Hill - this is a lesson for others as to how to run a big race. Excellent. Date of review: February 26, 2012
In short: Brilliant race In full: My local half-marathon, so a course I know well. The hills always seem easier with the race atmosphere than on lone training runs. The weather was ideal, unlike a fortnight ago when I ended the course with icicles on my face! Organisation was flawless with plenty of helpful and enthusiastic marshalls. Thanks for agreat race. In short: Fantastic marshals and supporters In full: It is the support that you get around the course which makes this such a special race: the downhill section to the end is amazing - a whole wave of support carrying you to the finish line. One of the bonuses of finishing towards the back: is that you get the finishers all cheering you on as well :-). People who were stuck in traffic jams around the course were also very encouraging: cheering through the car windows. Thanks to Ian Corless (commentator) for the namecheck.
The only slight downside (as previously mentioned - and unfortunately happens in *so* many races) is that the slower runners missed out on getting a medal from Dame Kelly and also the goody bag. Ironically probably the ones who deserve it the most as a lot more effort and struggle to get round. At least this time we didn't miss out on not having a t-shirt (or one in your size) as Tunbridge hand out these in advance - yay!
All in all this is such a great race and I will be back. Final thanks goes to the toilet marshals for doing such a great job in keeping the toilet queue moving so quickly!!!!
