In short: Killer hill at the beginning made the race very hard!

In short: Great atmosphere and organisation
In full: Loads happening on the Rye to entertain runners, spectators and family members. Lots of information. Don't even attempt the loos, just head for the bushes. Even the announcer was mildly entertaining - even if he couldn't recognise country flags...

"The hill" precluded any thoughts of a PB, but wasn't a race destroyer. I was more fearful of strong winds on Heath End Road, but the weather was very well behaved.

The race was more enjoyable after the Spring Lane split as we could all settle into our stride more and begin the battles.

Rather frustrating to see the finish with 2km still to go! but the route had been well-publicized so we all knew that would happen. The marshals were brilliant: very loud and encouraging!

The kids enjoyed the fun run and everyone had a great time.

My only question is why those runners who had collapsed did not receive treatment, but instead were dragged over the finish line???

Oh well, see you next year!

In short: Challenging course, great organisation, great value for money.
In full: A challenging course, not just the obvious hill between mile 1 & 2 which saps the energy reserves early on, the uphill finish also reduces any chance of a final kick to recoup any lost time! The organisation was brilliant, marshalls were excellent and the crowd support all along the course was uplifting. A nice medal, technical t-shirt and bursting goody bag combined with chip-timing makes this event excellent VFM. Doubt I'd ever get a PB on this course but would defo do it again. Well done Handycross Runners.

In short: Excellent organisation, exceptional value, marvelous marshalls and a plentiful goody bag!
In full: My 2nd year and 8 minutes quicker than last year. I managed to run all the way up the megger hill in mile 1 so was thrilled, the uphill at the end of the race was tough going and caught me out finishing in a sub 2 hour, but only by 56 secs! Goody bag extremely good, loved the very colourful t-shirt, brilliant medal and all the other goodies. See you next year and hopefully a sub 2-hour on this course finally!

In short: A well organised race but don't expect a PB, it's too hilly!
In full: The Wycombe Half was a well organised event in general, although they really need to get some extra loos arranged for the ladies (and poss men too?) I gave up in the end after queuing for 20 mins and not getting anywhere. Apparently it was like this last year too? The race itself was ok, but the hills in the first 2 miles really start take their toll on your endurance by about mile 10. The rest of the route was slightly frustrating too, with a lot of winding around through residential roads, and a really painful last mile where you can see the finish all the way and feel as if you'll never get there. We were rewarded with a fluorescent T-shirt (in sports tech material) and nice medal. The goodie bag had enough chocolate in it to deal with post-race munchies (plus fruit for the healthier option). One to try if you fancy a challenge, I'll see how I feel next year...

In short: Excellent choice for a first time half marathon
In full: It was ny first half marathon after doing plenty of 10k's around the common where I live in Clapham over the past 2 years and I can say that it was an excellent and well organised race although the first 20 minutes and the hill at the start were rather tough but along with the excellent support from the locals and other friendly runners it turned out to be a pleasurable event and will definately do it again. The goodie bag was filled with some nice samples and the mars bar and apple were a welcoming energy burst at the end of the race :-) Well done to the winner doing it in an hour and 13 minutes.
