In short: Nice hilly run through the countryside In full: !st time ive done this....and would do it again. Weather was lovely, the route although scenic is a lot of hedgerows, so a bit samey, but the hills make it a pleasent challenge. The only down side I could see was a lack of baggage facilities....I'm not keen leaving stuff in the car and then having to run with my keys. Date of review: May 10, 2009
In short: Too hot!!! In full: 1st time out on this course, but ran slow due to heat. good route once away from start - they really need to either think about changing the start or getting permission to close half the road for 10mins. Date of review: May 18, 2008
In short: Hot, hot, hot In full: If it had just been 5 degrees cooler... (!)
I really enjoyed the race, but being a bit of a plodder meant that I probably wasn't affected by the heat as much as some. I put in a pretty respectable time for me.
I know it's really difficult to plan for the very unexpected heat at this time of year, but a couple more water stations would have been wonderful. But the stewarding was brilliant - friendly, encouraging and unobtrusive.
Many thanks, Striders, I will be back next year! Date of review: May 17, 2008
In short: Hot and Undulating In full: I was in poor form 4 and half mins down on what I should of done. Lack of water considering the conditions. Well run by ST Albans Striders though apart from that. A Tough 10k give both factors.
I can see you below me Big Chief :) Date of review: May 14, 2008
In short: Everbody was HOT HOT HOT! In full: Cor it was hot, except for my pace which was luke warm and cooling towards the end. Top course, top organisation - only fault is the start, but not sure how you solve that one. Date of review: May 13, 2008
In short: Nice event to start the wife racing In full: Used this event to start the wife off running organized runs. Very well organized and marshalled. Heads out down some country lanes so no traffic with a few mild hills. Got the wife hooked and wanting to attend more races and wants more medals. Only fault was the start was very tight and turned into a free for all but well worth attending what ever your level. Date of review: May 12, 2008
In short: Well organised with numerous friendly and encouraging marshals In full: occasional undulations, nice scenery and very well marshalled and organised. Some runners found the hot conditions beyond them and St. John's Ambulance demonstrated their worth, giving oxygen for sufferers before paramedics arrived. Date of review: May 12, 2008
In short: Unpredicatable UK weather makes it harder In full: Well organised and marshalled, challenging undulations, still struggling to get sub-45 mins .. at least this year I can blame the heat. Date of review: May 12, 2008
