In short: Some details to sort but worth the trip In full: Good effort club race but could be improved by: Making the pre-race announcements audible to the runners - putting up advance warning signs for the water stations - providing course and race details online, as next to nothing was available in advance - shaming the hundreds of people who laughed and talked through the minute's silence for Remembrance Sunday - sensibly seperating the faster and slower runners at the start, not putting the slower ones ahead of the fast ones after 30 seconds on a narrow cyclepath for the first mile Date of review: November 9, 2009

In short: Nice flat course and good facilities In full: 11am start was useful for us non-locals. Weather was perfect with a nice chill and no rain. The course is flat bar a small hill around mile 7 making this a potential PB course (which I achieved so happy).
The flooded footpath came as a shock and took the bounce out of my legs for the last 3-4 miles (that's my excuse anyway).
Being able to use the Sports Centre facilities was nice, as were the coffe and biscuits.
Hope to be back next year. Date of review: November 9, 2009

In short: Enjoyed but could have done without the lake. In full: Perfect running day but the rain in the previous weeks meant that part of the course was under 10-15 cm of water for 20 meters or so (wick away socks?). I'm going to be picky but I thought the 1st H2O station was too early and the second must have had a rush there wasn't any ready, missed the third had to go back (I need notice). Nice course for a PB if you start nearer the front & don't get held up on the single runner track that seemed to last 3/4mile each way. Good support / atmosphere / value / medal and as I said enjoyed it even if my trainers didn't. Nice to get a reminder email before hand as well. Date of review: November 9, 2009

In short: flat fast half marathon, mostly off road, prone to being muddy!! In full: I have done this race 3 times and enjoy it, this year due to the heavy rain it was muddy in places and had a stretch of about 100m under 6 inches of water! However all part of the challenge and very good run. Car parking a bit chaotic so best to try and get there a bit early. Date of review: November 9, 2009

In short: Great race, nice views, friendly marshals. In full: My second year doing this one. Nice views on tracks around the Lune Estuary. What a puddle though....!! Eeeeeeeek. Almost a trail race really. Date of review: November 9, 2009

In short: Muddy and wet, but good fun! In full: Good organisation and scenic route. Awful weather the previous day meant a lot of the route was muddy, with some quite deep water in a couple of places. A narrow path at a couple of points made passing almost impossible. The standard of most runners seemed good, so perhaps not a great first race for novices. Would definitely run again. Date of review: November 8, 2009

In full: More of an adventure race than a road race! Great fun. Loved the number of water obstacles. Even managed a p.b. at 1h23m17s. Sign me up for next year Date of review: November 8, 2009

In short: The hill beat me! Who were the wonderful wheelchair duo and how did they manage to get through the water? In full: Last year I got a PB. This year I faded out at the hill. Such is running. Generally good organsation thanks chaps, but not much water or cups by the two hour finishers' arrival. I presume there was something else big on at the Sports Centre hence the chaos getting out. Always a friendly race. Date of review: November 8, 2009
