In short: Mile markers? You maybe lucky In full: Did the full. Really needs to start earlier, (1st off, before 10k and half)
How do you run a race without mile markers? I know they went missing. How about spray paint on the roads or grass, any d*** where. The last marker I saw was at 22!!, after that nothing. Which, from then on in, it starts to get tough, but without markers??!!
Flat? mmmmm , about 95% dont be fooled.
Those wind turbines are there for a reason. They are not a garden feature! I forever seemed to be running into the wind. Date of review: September 11, 2006

In short: My last marathon...it's halfs from now on!! In full: Living local, this was a tremendous boost to the town. Many, many thanks to all who came down for the event. Did the full marathon but burnt myself out, but at least a pb for a half marathon! Maybe it would help if the marathon set off first and also I'd have liked the medals to say marathon, not road race or am I being picky??!! RW forum folk...keep posting because it's going to be back next year - hopefully. Well done to all forumites! Date of review: September 10, 2006

In short: Putting the town on the map, but where were the markers? In full: I opted for the 10k out of the three so was first to start. I think in future if the order was reversed so the Marathon started first, that would be better. Marshals were all excellent encouraging the runners as well as pointing the way. They were still out at 5pm, 6 hours after the marathon start to direct any remaining stragglers on route. The organisation was excellent and even though some directional markers went missing overnight, they were replaced before the start. Each race had its own colour so as long as you followed your correct colour you ran your chosen distance. One gripe that I do have is the distance markers. The only realisation of the 1k point was a small yellow aerosol artwork in the middle of the road. There was a marker for 2k aswell as the paint job, but for the other points in the 10k, all along the main promenade between Mablethorpe and Sutton, they were paint jobs if you could spot them. I realise that being a seaside resort and being blessed with glorious weather today, traffic was a problem as it was practically impossible to close all roads used for the races. That said, the main problem was pedestrian traffic. On the promenade, although instructed to stay left, runners had to weave in and out to try and keep some kind of rhythm. As with most races I have entered, the start is the most contentious part, and this was no exception through no fault of the organisers. At least twice there were announcements asking runners to be considerate to faster runners. Being a 65min 10k'er I duly took my place toward the rear but still had to dodge mobile chicanes who were content to walk right from the start. The goody bag is well worth the entry fee whether early bird or not. A mug, tee, bookmark, small pack of sweets and a brochure promoting local Lincolnshire produce. I really hope this race is a regular on the calendar and suggest that next year a weekend is made of it cos I missed the pasta party last night! Well done to all concerned as you have gone a long way to putting Mablethorpe on the map. Date of review: September 10, 2006

In short: 10k was excellent. I would definitely recommend it, and will do it next year In full: I did the 10k and the whole event was excellent. Started on time, good marshalling, friendly atmosphere, and running along the promenade was lovely. Parking was slap bang next to the start/finish. And as for the goody-bag at the end - brilliant! I think the only suggestion I would make about whether to do things differently next time would be let the marathon runners start first (maybe at 9.00am?, then the half-marathoners, then the 10k. It was exceptionally hot for Mabo, and I felt sorry for the marathoners running at the hottest point of the day. Well done to all the organisers! Date of review: September 10, 2006

In short: Early bird price gr8; marshalls brill; mile markers? In full: We took advantage of the early registration price, otherwise the entry is costly. The Marshalls were friendly and very helpful, always. I spotted a 4mile, a halfway and a 22 mile marker on the half marathon. I think we were supposed to use the drinks stations as mile markers as well. The high temps reduced any PB potential, especially for the full marathon. A very good start with a reasonable and very friendly and supportive turn out. Well done Dave and the team. Date of review: September 10, 2006

In short: Good event for first timers. Could have done with starting earlier when it was cooler. Marshalls very friendly, an enjoyable experience. In full: A very hot day which meant I didn't do as well as I thought I could, marathon could have started earlier 10 O,clock maybe. Marshalls were excellent/friendly and drinks stations well manned. Out in the country for the majority of it and the residents of the villages need to be congratulated for suppoting the runners. My first marathon, recommend it for first timers, definately one I would do again Date of review: September 10, 2006
